Transition Instructions
When switching diets, it’s important to transition your dog or puppy as it takes time for her digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ORIJEN. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ORIJEN, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ORIJEN.

Has this food been checked for lead or arsenic levels?
Answer by • Oct 11, 2017
The fresh fish and all of the fish that make up the fish ingredients are exclusively from fish approved fit for human consumption. Monitoring heavy metal levels is a critical control point, and part of Orijen's HACCP program. The fish is tested for all heavy metals including lead ,arsenic and mercury. In addition to this, they audit their facilities and have a third party test for heavy metals.
do any of the ingredients come from china
Answer by • Feb 23, 2021
ORIJEN has always been focused on using ingredients from suppliers they know and trust. Part of this commitment is choosing suppliers with the technical expertise and discipline to give us the best ingredients available. While they do not source ingredients directly from China, some of their B vitamins are made with raw materials that originate in China. This would apply to vitamins B1 and B6, and is consistent throughout the pet food industry. They require that any vitamin components sourced from China must be human grade, and as such they undergo intensive testing to ensure the purity of the ingredient and accuracy of the blend.
How many calories are in 1 cup of Senior food?
Answer by • Dec 01, 2022
This recipe contains 417 kilocalories per cup.
Are euthanized animals used for the food prep
Answer by • Feb 01, 2021
ORIJEN foods and treats are formulated for dogs and cats, with meat and poultry ingredients sourced from federally licensed facilities that must have implemented a HACCP-based food safety system. Meat and poultry ingredients must be sourced from animals that are not condemned, diseased, or that have died otherwise than by slaughter.
We just received a new bag of Orijen Senior. A couple days later my senior developed diarrhea. She was immediately put on just boiled chicken and rice and got an Rx from the vet (600.00 for tests, blood work and Rx). Once the diarrhea cleared up we SLOWLY started adding a little Orijen to her chicken and rice. After just 2 days the diarrhea was back.
The Canadian company, Champion Petfoods (Orijen and Acana) was recently bought out by US based Mars Petcare. They have since changed the recipe and I can’t help but think these changes were profit driven without any thought to the wellness of our pets.

It was just Ok
First off let me state emphatically that the ingredients in this food are great. Nothing at all wrong with this food. That said my
dog would not eat it and simply pushed it away starring at it. Sorry. I tried to incorporate a healthy food choice but this was not the one.

Disappointed
Bought it because of the reviews, thinking my baby will like it, specially that it was supposed to be small bites, I ended up giving it to away, since my baby was not eating it.

My dog won't eat it :(
I have a 9-year-old golden retriever who usually wants to eat everything except this food! I can tell her stomach has not been feeling well recently. I know Orijen is a good brand, and I wanted to feed her the best kibble, but it gives her horrible gas and soft stools. She is now refusing to eat it, which is insane to watch (if you have a golden retriever, you know how weird it is to see them reject food).
Not to mention, the food genuinely smells terrible. It is really fishy! I am curious to know how many people haven't commented on this.
I would advise staying away from this formula if your doggie has a sensitive stomach or is allergy prone.

horrible days
The 8-year-old and 14-year-old puppies had diarrhea all night, continued to drink water, pooped and urinated throughout the days, and continued dozens of times for two days... never like this.

Best Choice!
We switched from Eukanuba to Orijen and we couldn’t be happier. While it’s a bit more expensive, I’m happy to pay for real ingredients (just look at the ingredients versus other brands). My 10yr old lab mix loves it and we only want what’s best for her. I rehydrate it and mix in probiotics and her daily vitamins and she loves it.

Great quality food
Orijen senior helped my dog look and feel better. It was great until he started having problems eating poultry.

Chewy is the best
Fed my dogs Orijen senior for years. Loved it and so did my dogs. I’m in awe how chewy responsed to the news my sweet dog had passed. One week later I received a Beautiful card and nice stone with his name and a plaque with a paw print and “forever in my heart”. So meaningful. Once I’m ready for a new round of dogs, chewy definitely has my business. Thank you.

Our senior dogs loved it
We have 2 dogs over 10 years old and they were not only becoming picky eaters but also having issues such as throwing up their food sometimes. This food solved all those issues and they love it! Thank you

Good stuff,
according to my dog. Transitioning her to senior food is easy when you can find a food they like.
