Palladia, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, is a drug used to treat mast cell tumors, a common form of cancer that affects dogs. Palladia works by killing tumor cells and by cutting off the blood supply to the tumor.
Tell your veterinarian about all other medications your pet is taking, including prescription drugs; over the counter drugs; heartworm, flea & tick medications; vitamins and supplements, including herbal medications. Tell your veterinarian if your dog is pregnant, nursing puppies, or is intended for breeding purposes.
Palladia should be given to your dog by mouth (orally). Palladia may be hidden inside a treat; be certain your dog swallows the entire tablet(s). Follow your veterinarian’s instructions for how much and how often to give Palladia.
Palladia may help shrink your dog’s tumor. Like other cancer treatments, it can be difficult to predict whether your dog’s tumor will respond to Palladia and if it does respond, how long it will remain responsive to Palladia. Regular check-ups by your veterinarian are necessary to determine whether your dog is responding as expected and to decide whether your dog should continue to receive Palladia.
Because Palladia is an anti-cancer drug, extra care must be taken when handling the tablets, giving the drug to your dog, and cleaning up after your dog.
Our cat had a leg amputated from osteosarcoma that unfortunately spread to lungs in form of two nodules. Despite what started out as grim prognosis -and we are not deluded about the inevitability of an aggressive cancer such as this - after 6 mos of Palladia along with supplements from his holistic oncologist, yesterday’s X-rays show “stable to mildly improved pulmonary nodules” We give him 3x a week 15mg Palladia tablet in pill pockets that I trim a tiny bit and minimize to evenly surround the pill with so he can’t chew or spit it out. One gulp action. Lately I coat that in cat food gravy, then roll that in crushed Greenies crunchies or Temptations. We take up all the food early in the evening on previous nights so he’s hungry in a.m. The supplements and vitamins the holistic doc has him on I believe help him tolerate any adverse effects of the pill. His blood tests are normal. Sorry for long post but I hope that this info can somehow help others. Get pet insurance if you don’t already have, it makes all the difference.
I have purchased snacks, beds, leashes, and more from Chewy in the past. But now I am buying chemo meds to control my dog’s mast cell cancer. I am saving quite a bit of money since Chewy prices are so much less expensive. Thank you Chewy! Cora is doing well!
My 11 y/o Shepherd Mix was diagnosed with analsac adeno carcinoma. He was having difficulty defecating. A lymph node had become enlarged due to the cancer, and it was pressing on his colon restricting his ability to relieve himself. My Vet and I had a Zoom meeting with a Veterinary Oncologist, who suggested Palladia and Peroxicam administered 3 times a week each, on alternating days. It worked. Sheldon is able to unload, and our Vet confirmed that the lymphnode has shrunk by perhaps 70%. It's expensive, but it works.
dont have them yet. thought they would be here by now, you recieved my doctors sign off on 20th shipped 3 days later on 23rd not good.
Chewy mis-dosed the bottle. Vet prescription said take 1, bottle labeled "take 2"
If you are reading this, it means you are dealing with cancer in your sweet pet. I am so, so sorry and I hope things go as well as possible. When we got confirmation that the cancer had metastasized before surgery for feline mammary adenocarcinoma, we started Palladia. It took a month or two to get up to an effective level in her body but it did work to slow the tumor growth. I am grateful for the extra time this drug bought us with my sweet girl.
I've been giving Palladia to my cat Tangee for rwo months. It's supposed to slow the progression of his cancer. In fact, the cancer is growing slowly, but I cannot say what it would have done without Palladia. It's a small pill. and easy to give, once you push it to the back of Tangee's mouth so he can't spot it out.
Palladia is a chemo therapy keeping my dog alive and stopping the spread of her cancer
Our Boxer was 7 yrs old and diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer end of October 2020. Once he saw his oncologist in early December 2020, he was started on 80 mg of Palladia, Mondays - Wednesdays - Fridays. In 3 months' time, his tumor shrunk more than 2/3rds of its original size. He has had NO side effects whatsoever being on this chemo medication. He has been on Palladia for 18 months and is doing well, with no side effects or progression. We are now 18 months out and it's still working, so we will keep doing this medication until or if, it is no longer working. Chewy pharmacy has been easy & AWESOME to work with!
At the vet specialist’s office I was paying such a mark up.. here at Chewy’s had my vet specialist send in RX and have it set for auto fill. Much better in controlling expenses.
