Fakey Flakey

I thought that because this product was made by a professional hairdresser who'd been in the hair industry for years, it'd be a great product for my Newfoundland's coat. Not the case. It left my beautiful boy's coat dull and with white flaky stuff all over him. When you are a solid, black, 200 lb. Newfoundland, with all that gorgeous coat, it is very noticeable when there are white flakes all over your coat, especially when you shake that ginormous body! So, not a fan of this product. And, yes the product was thoroughly rinsed out of my big guy's coat. I've been grooming my fur baby for a long time, so I am aware what it takes to rinse him really well. I even use a tad bit of diluted white vinegar to make sure he is squeaky clean and shiny. It's a trick all good Newfie owners know to do when doing the big wash and condition on their huge babies. I am not going to use the Paul Mitchell conditioner product on my Newfie ever again. I was going to ask to return the product but I know Chewy is so generous that they will likely say give it to my local shelter and they'd refund me. I don't believe I paid much for the product, so I'll keep it and use it on my short-haired dog. Maybe it will work on her because she is a mixed breed, and like most mixed breed dogs, nothing bothers them, their skin or their digestive system! I have a lot of trouble finding good shampoos and conditioners for my Newfoundland. Many products really ever leave him as soft and shiny and fluffy as his coat should be sometimes. I wonder if Chewy has a connection with a product line that caters to "water" dogs? You know, dogs with coats that are water resistant. Newfies have the oilier top coat so that the water sheds off of them when they swim in the cold ocean, or the lakes, or any ocean to rescue people. They are quite fabulous you know. But labs have this kind of coat too, as do many dogs. Of course, they don't weigh 200 lbs. and have all the hair mine does so it's quite a bit different to groom a Newfoundland. So, Chewy if you can find products well suited to Newfoundland's that will really lather up and get all the way down to their skin through the top coat and down through that undercoat and rinse out really well and leave their skin feeling clean and fresh that'd be so great. And to go along with it a great, penetrating conditioner that won't leave their coat greasy or lay on top of their fur but really penetrate the hair follicles and moisturize their skin under the under coat and rinse out well but still leave the coat and skin feeling soft and conditioned that would be even better. Then, if this product didn't smell like some awful fruit it would be perfect. Prior to buying this Paul Mitchell product I bought shampoo and conditioner that had a "mango" scent. Let me explain to Chewy and the public if they read this.. no animal, especially a 200 lb. Newfoundland with tons of fur, I mean, tons and tons of fur, should ever walk around smelling like some terrible, fake smell of mango. I'm not even sure what a mango should smell like, I haven't ever eaten that many mangos in my lifetime, but I have never been so nauseated for so long in my life as I was when my big, adorable, playful, huge, fluffy, furball would walk or run by me and the waft of that fake fruity smell would hit me. Why? Why do pet shampoo companies scent their products with those horrible smells? They obviously have never experienced what I had to experience. So, Chewy if you were able to find good products as I was suggesting, a scent is good. But it should be a fresh-from-the-groomer scent and like it's a dog scent. Not a fru-fru barf smell that makes you not want to hug your fur baby. Thank you, Chewy. You are a terrific place to buy all things PET!

Allergic Charlie Loves His Conditoner

My sweet 12 year old Charlie is a distemper survivor. He was a puppy and not yet in my care when he fell ill. He survived but with a host of side effects from 4+ months of drug therapy. One side effect is being allergic to all the trees and flowers in Los Angeles! The upshot is that he needs weekly baths. I use gentle products and this Oatmeal Conditioner from Paul Mitchell was the perfect addition. It did not irritate but soothed his sensitive skin. The light, barely noticeable scent was incredibly calming for both of us. I do have a professional groomer 4 times a year but for weekly baths Charlie is in the shower with me. The bottle was easy to manage even with wet hands. It's a win for us!

I decided to try this conditioner on top of a normal shampoo on a whim and I’m so glad I did. I’ll never go back! First, it smells amazing like actual human conditioner; second, you can completely tell the difference in how soft my baby’s hair is post bath! Spring = mud = more baths, and I’m not even mad about it.

We've had our dog for 7 years now and since she has a short, wiry coat we've never seen the need for a conditioner for it. Well, a few days ago I used the Paul Mitchell oatmeal conditioner after her normal (oatmeal) shampoo and was stunned at the difference in the feel of her coat. She is so much softer and sleeker -- and the gentle scent that has remained is lovely, too.

The Paul Mitchell Condition worked pretty good. It smells great and leaves my dogs fur feeling silky and soft. My only complaint is that it takes quite awhile to rinse the conditioner off. I also wish this was a shampoo and conditioner all in one product. My dog gets a little antsy standing for a full shampoo and then a full conditioner. Overall, I’m happy with the product.

I was so excited when I got this conditioner. I love Paul Mitchell Products. I used this on my Pom. I can’t believe how soft and white this made his coat
