What a fun sniffing exercise! This snuffle mat has tons of pockets for hiding kibble and treats of all shapes and sizes! The "crust" of the pizza is somewhat dense/weighted, which helps hold the shape and keep the edges on the floor during play. There is also an elastic loop at the top, which is convenient to hang it for storage, but I think would also work to play with it vertically as opposed to on the floor. My dogs truly enjoyed searching for snacks, and kept on sniffing after finding everything.

Received this toy in the beginning of June. Filled it with little doggie treats, kibble and a couple of pieces of chicken. At first, she was smelling it and carried around with her. I showed her the pockets that I put the "rewards" in, and she went at it!! She was quite persistent with this toy. She dragged it into the kitchen and put it next to her food bowl, and I guess she's looking for me to fill it up again! It really held her interest for quite a time, as she tried to get even the smallest kibble that I hid inside. Tried hanging it on a doorknob, but she yanked it right off and carried it away to her bed! I'm going to fill it regularly so she can count on getting a little something extra during the in between time from breakfast to dinner! I definitely would recommend this toy to someone who goes to work or is gone for a few hours as it will definitely hold the dog's interest. I am in Louisa, VA and have a mixed breed Boxer/lab. Only have the one pet. I love Chewy, and always recommend you to friends, not only for products but your super, super customer service!

However, while the idea is great, it didn’t quite hit the mark for my dog. She quickly lost interest, mostly because the treat pockets were a bit too tricky for her to access. It might be better suited for dogs with larger snouts or those more motivated by food puzzles. That said, it’s easy to clean and store, and the materials feel safe and high quality. For the right dog, especially one who enjoys a bit of a challenge, this could be a hit. Just be aware that it might not work for every pup. This is such a cute toy that I was really hoping that one of my girls would like it. MoMo is a boxer and would rather chase balls and play with her squeaky toys. It was not a challenge for her to find treats in the pockets. My other girl Lizzy is 17 and doesn’t play with toys much. She did lay down on top of it for a while.
