I have a 5 year old rescue that is Shih-tzu and pug mix. She eats extremely fast, including giant mouthfuls with little to no chewing. With “human” food like, ground beef, chicken, turkey, fish she is worse. We tried grinding and cutting her food small, but the speed, giant mouthfuls and limited chewing remained a problem. We have considered a bowl that helps slow eating for a while, but questioned if it would help. I am/was 100% wrong. Since the start of using this feeding dish, it now takes her 2-4 times longer to eat. So far, have fed her dry dog food, ground beef, shredded chicken. Worked well with all, so far. I also like the fact it can be taken apart, and is dishwasher safe. Can make sure it is clean and sanitized. I would definitely recommend this feeder if your pet needs to slow down their eating.

Well made slow feeder for larger dogs. I like that the feeding portion is removable for if/when my pup learns to eat more slowly on her own. It’s easier to get to the food pieces than some other feeders, but definitely slows her down. The only issue I have is that because the feeder section is removable, liquid tends to seep underneath. You have to pull it out so the dog can get to the liquid, and you must clean it out daily or risk mold buildup. I do recommend it for medium to large dogs. Won’t slow down smaller dogs at all.

Works well, would recommend for bigger dog.

This bowl looks well made and sturdy. My dogs at least didn't seem to be able to move it. However, this bowl is most likely meant for larger breeds. My maltese/yorkie

This bowl looks well made and sturdy. My dogs at least didn't seem to be able to move it. However, this bowl is most likely meant for larger breeds. My maltese/yorkie could probably sit in the bowl if he was so inclined. It was effective as a slow feeder and was easy to clean. The slow feeder part is an insert and i had no trouble removing it for cleaning. A determined dog might also be able to remove it as well. I would recommend this if you had a medium or large dog.

A nice, really heavy metal bowl with a rubber bottom to keep it from sliding on the floor. The baffle insert has a silicone bottom that keeps it suctioned in and allows the baffle to rotate. My shih tzu, who usually eats too fast, has no problem reaching the food with her short nose, taking more time to eat with this bowl. We wet her kibble which works well but l don't think it work as well with a gravy or wet canned food because it would get under and into the baffle voids. It's well made and I'm happy with it.

This is a really lovely slow feeder bowl. Most slow feeder bowls are plastic and difficult to clean well because the "puzzle" element creates lots of surface areas

This is a really lovely slow feeder bowl. Most slow feeder bowls are plastic and difficult to clean well because the "puzzle" element creates lots of surface areas and corners. This one is a well-built double-walled stainless steel bowl with a removable insert. Both the insert and the bowl can be washed in the dishwasher. The separate insert also means that if you no longer need the slow-feed element (either due to age of your dog or a different dog) you are left with a bowl that works well either for food or water. We use similar bowls for water for our dogs.

No instructions on how to remove the plastic insert. IMO spacing in the plastic insert is too large, dog just wolfs down the food. I was sent this bowl to evaluate. I have several slow feeding bowls and this does not do the job of slow feeding nor ease of cleaning.
