Is the size small good for a 9 pound dachshund?
how wide is the harness material

The X-Small harness has straps that are 3/8 inch wide, the Small harness has straps that are 5/8 inch wide, the Medium harness has straps that are 3/4 inch wide and the Large harness has straps that are 1 inch wide.
How is this harness for longer haired dogs (matting etc.)?

This Harness is suitable for dogs of all breed types.

Will buy again!

Made very well. The reflective straps do not slip like most nylon harnesses. Good size range and strap width.

Bad design

This item is sturdy enough however the adjustment doesn't allow for a very good fit. It actually made a sore spot under one of her front legs. I am assuming from the harness constantly pulling to one side as we walk. I it was maybe from one of the adjustment snaps but there is blood stain on the strap itself. So disappointed.

This was sewn wrong so it’s always twisted. And the clips Don’t hold.

Itchy and cheap

I can't believe the overall rating is so high for this harness. I hope I just received a dud. It's going back. The marsala color is gorgeous, but everything else is terrible. The portions of the webbing material that are folded over and sewn look like the stitching is already coming out. The very edge of the webbing that was burnt/heat treated to prevent fraying (which is normal) is sticking out from the reinforcement stitching and caused scratchy areas against my dog's skin (not normal). Both of those issues I could have fixed with my sewing machine, but the plastic clasp is also cheap and gets stuck halfway between in and out when I'm trying to get the harness open. Not worth the effort. Order a different harness.
