I put these in the nest boxes just to start with when I got my chickens so they'd know where to lay. They're easy to clean, they've withstood a few drops, and they've got some heft but are lighter than actual eggs so you can differentiate (though I've drawn on mine to differentiate).
Realistic in appearance
I use these to "train" new layers where eggs are supposed to be laid. Just put one or more in each nest box, and it seems to help them figure things out.

Very real looking eggs
I cant say they've made my chickens lay yet, but they are close! Perfectly sized and colored. I am impressed with these ceramic eggs.

We use these for a variety reasons. When our chickens were younger they were used to show them where to lay eggs. Now we use them to deter them from eating their eggs and for broody hens. Our hens move them around the nesting boxes and put them in their favorite boxes.
Works like a charm
