Penthouse Paws Smart Maxx HD Automatic Dog & Cat Feeder, Black

I have four inside cats, but there is only my husband and I to care for them. Every time we go somewhere, I worry what would happen to them if we couldn’t get back. I have a large capacity pet fountain in addition to their regular chilled water dish and up until about a year ago I was free-feeding their dry, so I knew they would be okay for at least a couple days or so in an emergency. Then one was diagnosed with diabetes. He gets injections twice daily and prescription food, but he must eat right before he gets the injection. My vet recommended feeding twice daily, but as they weren’t brought up like that it wasn’t working out too well. By letting him graze a little during the day he is happy and doing well. My vet is pleased too. The rest still get their regular food, but they like the prescription food as well. My vet said it won’t hurt them to eat it. (Never, EVER give any prescription food to a cat other than it was intended for without checking with your vet first). It’s been a real challenge keeping everyone fed, happy and dosed, but I’ve been doing it. Problem was, I could no longer free-feed as I had. Now they come and sit by their dishes, staring at me till I take the covers off, which works out fine if I’m home. Then I learned about this feeder. I started setting it up on my own. I am by no means a technical person, but I didn’t have any problems until I got to a couple questions that only my husband the computer geek could answer. NOTHING is simple around here when it comes to computers and networks. He got the last couple things taken care of and we were ready to start using it. I placed it in our hallway, between the rooms they sleep in so they’d be sure to hear it wherever they were. They all turned tail and ran the first time I ran it, but my little female came out and had a look a few minutes later. Once she ate, the others all had to know what she was getting that they weren’t, so they tried it as well. The next morning all but one immediately ran over and ate with no hesitation when they heard it. The one who didn’t was too busy cuddling on my lap. I won’t be scheduling feedings for now. I’m going to be using it manually to be sure they don’t go hungry if we’re out and for keeping them fed if we can’t get home in the event of an emergency, but that may soon change. At his last visit, my vet said my boys’ glucose was “almost too good”. She wants to get him off the injections, but gradually. When/if that day comes; I’m looking forward to being able to schedule feedings and know they’re always provided for, even when we’re not home. The feeder is easy to set up and very easy to use. It’s perfect for a multi pet or large pet home, as it holds 7L of dry food. The dish might be a little small for a very large or giant breed dog, as it is 6” diameter and 1.5” deep, but that would really depend on the dog itself and the shape of its muzzle. My cats have no problem with it and there’s no concern about whisker fatigue. You can choose the portion size in 7g increments and it’s very easy to disassemble for cleaning. You can even add other people and assign different permissions to them. All they need to do is download the app and follow the instructions. The pictures I’ve posted are images from the feeder that I grabbed as screenshots with my phone. My cats are all black. The feeder is in a fairly dark area. Daytime or night vision shots are named as such. You can see the difference in the two camera positions in the night vision shots. I am so pleased and relieved to have this feeder and I definitely recommend it to anyone with no reservations whatsoever. It’s that awesome!
