Product Quality Declining
I have been buying these chews for my dogs for a long time and over the past few months have noticed their quality is declining. Often the amount of chicken wrapped around the hide is scant and does not cover half of it. Earlier the rawhide roll was covered well with thinly cut chicken strips. Now in the last two bags, it looks like mostly hide- scant chicken. Several bags have very dark brown chicken strips like it was scorched and almost burned. It must not smell good because the dogs sniff it and turn away. I have been buying these chews for a Boston terrier and 3 chihuahuas, a huskie and hound and they all became really hooked on them. Now it doesn't look like it will be too dicfficult to wean them away. With higher prices, Chewy should be certain that the product's quality is good. I am really disappointed how these chews have gone downhill. I have included them with most of my orders in the past.
My dog almost died from these treats
I added these treats in November 2022. In February 2023 she stopped eating, was lethargic, exhibited pain and peed and drank a lot. After a visit with her vet and attempts to encourage eating, she was admitted to university ICU. Everything pointed to Fanconi syndrome from jerky treats. The FDA is investigating the link between chicken jerky from China and Fanconi. This company says it tests to strict standards but still sources the chicken from China.
My dog's favorite treats
My whippet loves these chews and they don't seem to cause any digestive distress. I have been purchasing them from a local pet store for quite some time before finding them on Chewy.com. The cost is definitely better so it's nice to be able to treat my dog and my wallet at the same time!
Dogs love them!
My dogs love these chicken wrapped rawhides BUT they give them the runs. I had hoped I could use as a daily treat, but I have to limit to every 3-4 days.
Yummy Treats!!
My pups really enjoy these treats. They have a generous amount of chicken that wraps the hide. Some days they enjoy eating the chicken first, then the hide and other days, they eat both at the same time.
