  • Pet Naturals of Vermont L-Lysine Cat Chews

    By on

Our vet recommended L-Lysine chews for our cat who has what we call "reverse sneezing". He's a rescue who apparently has a chronic virus. Faced with a decision after he developed a resistance to the anti-biotic he was on, we started giving him 2 chews daily. So far it seems to be working. His sneezing episodes are not as frequent and not as severe so we view that as a success. Very importantly, he likes them and scarfs them up! We break them into smaller pieces to make them easier to pick up and chew. Plus, it makes it seem like more for him. ;)

  • Good for FIV+ Cats

    By on

I adopted an FIV+ cat a few months ago and he had some chronic eye gunk. He hasn't been taking these for very long, but I can see an improvement. His eyes are less watery and cruddy. He loves them and eats them like treats (although he's not picky and will eat anything).

  • great product!

    By on

Took a little getting used to for our kitten, as they are hard to chew. I broke them up for her and now she loves them. Our 2 years old cat loves them too and they are easier for her to eat. Worked great to clear up their eyes.

  • My favorite brand!

    By on

I adopted an FIV+ cat about three months ago, and it was recommended that I give him L-lysine to keep his immune system in good shape. They sent me him with this brand, and when I ran out I tried another two just for good science. This one is my favorite by far! Now, my cat is extremely food-motivated and will eat almost anything, so I’ve never had problems with him actually eating these—he thinks they’re a treat, so I use them to teach him tricks. While he also didn’t have a problem with the other brands, I personally think these smell the best. They’re also less greasy. The number one thing I like about these, though, is that my cat is so soft!! But this brand only takes a couple days for him to go back to being extra soft and sleek. I’m so happy with this unexpected side effect! … more

  • He likes it

    By on

My Tonkinese cat, is on his way to becoming 15 years old in 2018. Our holistic vet recommend I try "L-Lysine kitty treats" as an additional supplement, that could help kitty's immune system. Kitty likes them! It's January, the wind child is minus 20 degrees below, so I turned to Chewy.com to find L-Lysine and they delivered this product the next day.

  • Seems to be working

My finicky cat can not be pilled under any circumstance and is not fooled by pills formulated into treats. Thus, he will not eat these treats BUT I break one up into a very small amount of warm water until it dissolves completely and then I mix it into a small amount of canned food twice a day. He has never refused it in any flavor of food, but I actually grate the treat with my fingernail so it dissolves quickly and completely. [It takes less than a minute to do. You can dissolve it ahead of time and let it sit until next feeding if you're cramped for time in the a.m. etc.] ***I also put in 5 drops of HomeoPet NOSE RELIEF (for cats; make sure you don't get the one for larger animals: goats My finicky cat can not be pilled under any circumstance and is not fooled by pills formulated into treats. It's not expensive! My cat has never detected it in his food. ***This Nose Relief over-the-counter medication is for "symptoms", so I only give it when he has a runny nose, sneezing, or chest congestion/coughing. Lysine should be given routinely to support his/her system. If the flare-up escalates to my cat's ears or if he appears to have an infection, I take him to the doctor for an antibiotic shot which lasts about a week. I get him a second shot at 7-10 days just to make sure. As in humans, if it's a virus, all the antibiotics in the world aren't going to help with the under-lying cause, so I'm HOPING the Lysine will continue to work. It takes patience, but if you have ever had a headache from allergies, a cold, or whatever, you would try your best to alleviate your cat's headache. They don't get to take aspirin. GOOD LUCK. … more

  • better than vetriscience

    By on

These have far better ingredients than the ones by vetriscience (however you spell it) and she doesn't even know the difference. I will say they are hard but all you have to do is run it under some cold or hot water (I've tried both ways and it makes no difference to her) and they soften right up. Also brings out the flavor. My cat is one of the lovely picky ones and she's been eating these twice a day for months no problem.

  • Cat Sometimes Eats Them in Pieces with Lots of Coaxing, but Won't Eat with Food.

My cat, Peanut, has had upper respiratory issues since I picked him up from the shelter about a year and a half ago. He's been on medication from the vet before in the past, but it didn't fix the issue. He sneezes a lot, everyday. I had read about these online, and discovered them for a great price on Chewy.com, so I ordered two. The pieces are kind of big, so one piece has to be broken into three for him to even attempt to eat them. He will sometimes eat them like a treat with a lot of coaxing, but I've also tried breaking them up on top of his food, but he just pushes them out of the way and they're usually the only thing left in the bowl. I still haven't opened the second pack, and I made the order about six months ago. … more
