For adult cats, feed 1 pack per 6-8 lbs. of body weight per day. Kittens require up to two and a half times this amount. For pregnant and lactating females, allow free access to food. Adjust the amount of food to meet your cat's individual needs. Food should be fed at room temperature. Always provide access to fresh water.
Slowly transition your pet to Caru stews over a period of about 7 days so that the new food is not a sudden shock to their system. Mix 25% of the new food in with 75% of the current food for the first 2 days, then mix 50% new food with 50% existing food for the next 2 days, then mix 75% new food with 25% current food for the next 2 days. By day seven, you can feed your dog 100% new food. If your pet experiences any kind of digestive upset during this time, try slowing down the process.

Caru Classics Chicken Stew
By Linda on Jan 13, 2021
All three of my cats like the chicken. It is a good quality of human grade food that is good for cats. After reading a lot on what other pet foods are made from it just makes you sick that they feed our loving pets such garbage. I don't think I would ever buy anything else but good quality for my family of three.

My 18 year old cat loves the chicken stew.
By Cleo on Jan 3, 2021
She licks her plate clean! I do not give her the entire box at once. I give her 1/3 at a time for 3 separate servings per box. I love the fact that it is "food grade," grain free, and made in small batches. Who knows what's in the cans of mass produced non-food grade cat food.

My girls didn't like
By SissySue on Jan 11, 2021
I gave 3 stars and recommend it because it seems to have healthy ingredients, but my girls didn't care for it. I have 2 senior CKD kitties, and it's always a struggle to find food with high quality protein and lower phosphorous that they enjoy eating. I will continue seaching.

Good ingredients

I wish my cats liked this food. They give it a couple licks and walk away. I wouldn't mind paying the extra cost if they loved it but this is just not worth it for me.

She LOVES Caru
By Ashley on Nov 29, 2020
My vet told us that my cat has the SOFTEST fur she has ever felt! My cat also stopped coughing up fur balls when she's eating Caru wet food. She cries for it every night at dinner time and absolutely loves it. She does like a switch-up of flavor every now and then though.

Turned their noses up!
By acceber on Dec 11, 2020 Top 1000 Contributor
I have several cats. Two of them liked it well enough The other 16 walked away from it so luckily they'll eat it but it's going to take a long time. Try to find something else.

My cat and I are both happy with this food.
By Chipper on Sep 16, 2020
My cat will not drink. Not from a bowl, not from a fountain. I'm always looking for ways to get more water into her so her kidneys will stay healthy. Stews are good because they have a high water content, plus I add extra water. Previously my cat was eating a stew made by a different manufacturer, but the quality was uneven, so I decided to switch brands. I am very picky about safety and ingredients, and chose to switch to Caru stew in part because it was recommended in the Truth About Pet Food website's annual list of trusted foods. It's true that, as others have written, the appearance of the food is a little odd and not exactly what I'd call a stew. It looks more like a thick baby food with a few chunks of chicken here and there. But that doesn't matter if your cat likes the food. Although the labeling on the box makes it sound like you can close it to store the food after opening, I don't see any way to reseal it. A box lasts me for four meals (supplemented with dry food), so I pour the contents into a small glass storage dish with a snap-on lid and refrigerate it. … more

Sorry, but this is AWFUL
By Georganne on Sep 10, 2020
I'm disappointed that I had to give this a star but no stars was not an option. The description of this product was so wonderful that I really thought this would be a good addition for my seven cats but not one of them would even attempt to eat it - they all walked away from it. After four separate attempts to get at least one of them to try it, I finally gave up. Even my nose wrinkled when I poured it out of the container, not because of the smell (which is non-existent) but because of its look. It is NOT stew. It's a cross between bumpy pablum and over-cooked oatmeal. It's been pureed so much that there are NO pieces of anything that could be called a vegetable. CARU needs to correct the description of this product or drastically change the way they produce it. It's not at all as described. … more

Finicky cat
By Lesley on Sep 6, 2020
I gave my cat 1 tsp. of the chicken stew mixed with her fancy feast turkey wet food. She liked it, but when I tried to give her more, she turned her nose up at it. The healthier the food I give her, the more she leaves it and goes for the kibble, which I consider kitty junk food. Help.

not a good fit for my cat
By mpdred368 on Sep 16, 2020
My 11 year old cat is usually not a picky eater, as I've fed her different kinds of food her whole life. She is used to variety. But she wouldn't touch this, just gave it barely a sniff. Hopefully, the outside cats will eat it.
