Why do some of these candles burn black soot around the rim of the glass?

Please read the burn instruction label on the side of the jar and make sure you are trimming the hand placed wick before each use. The increase of soot in the jar will happen if you are burning under a fan or air vent due to the increased air flow. You can simply use a damp paper towel and the soot will come off before every use
