Thoroughly rinse out filter with running water before inserting in to the fountain. Although completely harmless, doing this will cleanse the filter of any charcoal dust that may have become loose.
Insert the filter in to your pet fountain. The flow of water should enter through the polyester side and out of the charcoal side which is dark in color. Filter positions will vary by the model of the fountain. The user guide included with your fountain will give specific instructions depending on the model of your fountain.
It is recommended the filter be replaced every 2 to 4 week and more frequently if multiple pets are using the fountain.

Decent Filters for the price

I've been using these filters for about 6 months now and they seem to work well for a few days, but the water in the pet fountain starts to get foamy and slimy if you don't wash out the fountain every 3-5 days. The filter gets very slimy too, which I guess is to be expected due to its location in the fountain I have now. My other fountain used a different filter that was at the top of the fountain so it stayed fresh longer. This one is at the base so I guess it gets dirty faster. Each filter is good for about 3 cleanings so that's about 9-15 days.

I have more than one cat and I love this Water fountain for my cats they love it I don’t have no problems with it sure you have to keep it cleaned I clean mine every 2 weeks sometimes it needs it sooner if my cats sticks their paws in it . I like the fountain cause it’s easy to clean and my cats always has fresh water that’s important to me and my fur babies to have fresh water all the time.

You get what you pay for. I only have one cat. After one week of use the water is visibly dirty and the cat mate is slimy inside. You will have to clean the unit and replace the filter ALOT with this cheap alternative.

These filters are great. I always wipe down the fountain and the filters a couple times a week to avoid residue. I never have a issue with them.

Waste of money. I feel like I'm cleaning the water every other day, I only have one cat. I dont know why or how it gets so dirty..filters should be catching it all! Barley any charcoal in the filters either. I bought these bc of the good reviews, so idk what's wrong here
