Does this work off-grid in areas without cell service?
Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2022
Petfon tracks dogs based on GPS and LoPoWan technology. It transmits signal via Bluetooth and LoPoWan, not mobile signal, cellular network or wifi signal. That means you don't need to use any internet during the usage of the devices. It enables you to track dogs in some very desert areas with no cellular signal. Even if there is no cellular or wifi, the devices would run normally as long as your cellphone's Bluetooth is enabled.

How much does this weigh?

does not work

It does not work. if you have it automatically refresh the location -- the battery runs down fast. take it off automatic and if you dont refresh within 5 mins then it can not locate the dog -- get an error message. Refreshing within 5 mins defeats the reason to not have it on automatic

Great Local Tracking Systen

I've owned the Petfon system for over and a year now and am very satisfied. I needed a tracking system for my two cats who I allow out for an hour or two a day. Through some initial training, they stay within about a quarter mile circumference of home. Petfon works well for my needs. I like the way it switches from "LoPoWan" to Wifi, to Bluetooth technology depending on distance from the controller I wear on my wrist. Great app shows their positions on a map. Allows me great freedom and peace of mind that they are safe. Beautifully packaged when it arrives too. Well done Petfon!

Happy with my purchase.

This collar is absolutely so beautiful and seems like it will last a good long while. It also fits perfectly (be sure to measure the thickest point of your dogs neck).

Went off all the time

Bought this a couple of months ago when my dog kept getting out. First day i used it, it was great. for the next week it kept going off saying he got out even though he was in the other room. After a week of getting at least 15 notifications that he had gotten out i finally returned it.

Learning curve but happy with purchase

I’ve waited to review this since it was an expensive item. My 11 m/o Rottweiller was getting out of our fence. We are on 10 acres that are partially wooded so I can’t just look out to see him. I was able to set up perimeter and receive notifications if he was near the fence. It’s very accurate. It’s a little difficult hooking on straps. They must be removed to charge each night. One strap has broken already. They are pricey to replace. $19 for two. Wifi is needed for best accuracy, but radar feature works very well also. Download app and keep phone nearby for best accuracy.
