How do the grey pet link mats vs this blue mat compare when dealing with tiny clay pieces of litter? Where is it made. Do either of these smell of rubber, like tires?
Answer by ChewyMay 06, 2020
Both litter mats are designed to collect litter and prevent tracking with the main difference of design. These mats do not have a rubbery smell and manufactured in China.

Such a big fan of this mat

Completely as advertised. I have a powdery, sand-like litter that tracked all over my apartment before this mat. It's rubbery, so it's very durable as well and is a great size for my large litter box.

works, flattening problematic, cleaning poop difficult

This drastically reduced the litter scatter. I have a really big box (plastic tote), so I got the medium size mat and placed it only in front of the box where the cats usually jump out. The mat is fairly heavy, and not hard to shake the litter out of the holes and into the box. As other commenters said, it comes rolled up and is difficult to get to flatten. I put it outside in the hot sun for several days, curving opposite the direction it wanted to go. Repositioning occasionally. Helped get the disagreeable smell out too. But these issues are likely common to such products. I have an elderly cat that got the trots and had accidents. (Now fixed with medicine). Cleaning sticky wet poop off the mat is a big pain to get out of all the little holes. Even with hot water and detergent. But my guess is it would be just as hard, if not worse, with most any other mat design. Just how it goes.

Great capture

Pros: It captures majority of cat litter each time they walk out of the litter box. It stays on the floors as well. Cons: Not easy to clean up cat litter remained on the mat 100% compared to other mats made by different material.

Too thin and apparently tasty.

Ordered several of these mats couple of years ago. They are attractive but thin. They do a decent job of collecting the tracked litter; however, it appears they are also tasty! There is not one mat that is still intact, and I find little rubber gifts all over the house.

Not like they used to be

I agree with the reviews which said recent purchases disappointing. I’ve had these for quite a while now. Newer ones won’t lie flat. Waves in them. Too soft and flexible. New ones worse than those purchased ten years ago. Very disappointed.

Great litter collector!

Good size mat. Like that you can use either side - depending on what your cat prefers. Easy to empty excess tracked litter back into the litter box. Best part, it's easy to clean!

Not nearly as good as they used to be

I bought 9 of these in X-Large several years ago to cover an entire room and I love them. I recently bought 2 more in large (X-Large is no longer available). The quality has dropped significantly and despite that, the price of the large is as much as the X-Large used to be. Accordingly, I'm very disappointed in the recent ones. Don't trust any positive reviews that are more than a year or two old since the product quality is no longer the same.

Decreased quality of material from older version

I bought my first versions of these mats years ago; the rubber was thicker and you could curl it in your hands to shake the litter back in and it would easily hold the curled shape. Now, the rubber is very thin, and acts like a limp noodle. It Does not hold it’s shape when you try to pick it up or shake it in, making it likely any litter or trapped urine will spill over. They also (at least Chewy isn’t offering) appear to have discontinued the X-large size, which would cover more area under and around the litter box. Yes, it will still trap litter and urine in the circular depressions. But the thinness of the mat makes it clear it won’t last as long as my older, sturdier versions. Very disappointing. I won’t buy again. Only if I see the old, thicker version in a pet store—where it will cost double. Not nice, Petlinks.

Cat litter mat

It works really well, I got the medium mat and I think the larger one would be better but all in all I am pleased with it.

Works well

Works well, catches the litter good. Just wish it was bigger!
