can i get them without food coloring

When you clean this, does it dissolve over time? I'm looking for a perch that maintains its shape for at least 5 years.

As this perch is made from pet safe materials for a bird to peck and consume (primarily made of Calcium Sulfate, Kelp), it will eventually need to be replaced. Kelp is an excellent mineral supplement for birds and is prized for it's iodine content. Iodine is essential for normal thyroid functions and is missing in most birds food diet. Most veterinarians recommend calcium for caged birds.

This is similar to a cuttlebone?

Yes but this perch contains different ingredients than a cuttlebone. The ingredients are kelp, iodine, and calcium.

Are there any flavor additives?

Both buddies are terrified of it and have not used it. Had to take it down. It is recommended for budgies but I think it is too big for small birds.

Large is actually large!

An interesting new addition to the aviary for our grey. Large enough he can actually stand on it. Attached to the cage bars well and is stable.

I put this on the outside of my bird's cage. All three of my birds (cockatiel and two budgies) enjoy sitting on it and chewing on it. Note that the color may be different from the picture--the one I got was pink and yellow. It's also kind of messy: when the birds chew on it they leave colored powder scattered under it. (But being messy is kind of how parrots are!)

Different but conure approved

I took a risk trying this shape with my picky conure but I thought it was cool and it appealed to me that he could perch on it without curling his feet, variety

I took a risk trying this shape with my picky conure but I thought it was cool and it appealed to me that he could perch on it without curling his feet, variety is always good. He took a couple days to warm up to it and he doesn't seem to chew on it as much as the ice cream cone we got at the same time, but I catch him perching on it often lately! It is actually bigger than I thought which was nice, and feels sturdy as far as attachment to the cage.
