I've got a mixed herd of mules, horses, pony, and donkey, with some very easy keepers (looking at you, mules and donkey!) Two of the horses are in their 20s and require the extra nutritional support of amino acids; the oldest mare, and one of the younger mares, are hard to keep weight on. Surprisingly, that younger mare generally dislikes grain and will often kick her bucket over and refuse to eat anything but hay. Feeding this bunch is like doing a logic problem, so finding a feed that works for the whole gang is challenging. I no longer like to have high-sugar / high-starch feed on the premises due to the risk to the donkey and mules, but the feed must have essential amino acids for the older horses. I'm confident in this product. It contains lysine, methionine, and threonine to help the seniors keep weight and muscle mass; it is low sugar and starch to help prevent metabolic issues; and - to my surprise - my picky mare just loves it. It also contains the probiotics necessary to ensure gut health. This is a formula I can trust for the health of my herd.

This feed is a combination of oats and pellets. My pony has Cushings and requires a low starch, low sugar product. She will eat a product for months and then loose interest in it. Unlike many Cushings equines, she is always struggling to keep her weight on. She also, at 31, has quite a few missing teeth so needs a soft, palatable feed that gives her a lot of the nutrients she can't get from eating grass. I started her on this slowly as is necessary and now she is about 100% on this feed. She seems eager to eat it and make sure she doesn't leave a pellet for the other horses to clean up. I might add, she is *not* a performance horse but a happy grazer!

A great beet pulp based horse feed

I recently tried ProElite Performance Ultra Premium Low Sugar Low Starch horse feed for the first time. I’m very impressed! I’ve always liked feeding beet pulp based feeds to my horses as the horses always seem to enjoy them. The ProElite looks and smells great and my horses all seemed to really enjoy it’s flavor! They started eating it easily and clean it up quickly in their buckets. I like that it’s got omega fatty acids for a shiny coat and probiotics to aid digestion. And, it’s low sugar and low starch so I don’t need to worry about feeding it to my horses. I’d definitely recommend this product!!

This grain did not work well for my horse with COPD. Its very dence and almost sticks or compacts together with his breathing issues it was to much for him tontry and eat. He seemed to like it just not a good fit for my boy. We gave it to another horse on the farm and he also seemed to love it. His coat actually looked like it was shinier and he had more energy and performed well in the arena on it. It also seemed to help level out his weight.

My horses were gradually transitioned to this feed and ate it without hesitation. The grain has a pleasant scent and the texture wasn't different from what they had been eating. The grain also was not clumped together and was consistent in color. I would happily feed this to my mares depending on availability as they do require a food with lower sugar and lower starch. They can be picky, but they did not show any dislike to this grain. I have no complaints or recommendations about this brand.

Picky eater approved

Appaloosa, 22 year old gelding- has spent the last 14 years in the show pen and can be picky about grain. Loved the taste, no rejection at all. As he starts to age

Appaloosa, 22 year old gelding- has spent the last 14 years in the show pen and can be picky about grain. Loved the taste, no rejection at all. As he starts to age and has increased access to grass, want to be sure he is receiving quality nutrition but not the extra sugars. Would recommend to be used on performance or trail horse that may still need balanced nutrition but not the extra carbs/sugars.
