I thought this was a great idea however it only took a couple of hours for it to become unrecognizable due to my girls need to chew.
This is my favorite chew toy -- it bounces in fun ways and it takes a while to get to the treat (when my mom or dad puts one in there)! Its color is easy for me to find, too!
We fill them with fat free greek yogurt and freeze them. Like better than Kongs. My dogs do not tend to chew things up in general, but so far durable.
The large size toy leaves 1/2" on either side which my dog immediately pulls out to eat and leaves the empty toy in a pile of yellow chunks. I don't see anything on the packaging that states these useless chunks are edible. There's nothing to put treats in except the large hole at either end. Am I suppose to throw the toy and expect my doc to bring it back when there's a tiny nub they can chew off? One of the pictures I've seen as a recommendation appears to have a black or dark bully stick, which is also useless. The only upside is you only need 5 minutes of observation as the stick is pulled out, eaten, and watch my dog destroy the toy into little bits. It's useless.
The edible part of the toy sticks out Hall an inch on either side and can be pulled out entirely. The toy then becomes a chew toy that leaves yellow bits all over the floor. It lasts less than 5 minutes, leaves inedible yellow bits everywhere. At least I assume they're inedible. Nothing on the package indicates they are.
my toy is awesome, I love to chew and I have not destroyed it yet
My dog is treat motivated and bored on occasion. This toy is perfect for a busy pup because you can spread peanut butter or yogurt in the middle of it for them to lick out. Or you can put a hard treat or bully stick in the center and they use their paw to hold on to the hive and chomp away. So cool. I like that it can go in the dishwasher too.
Within 5 minutes of me giving it to him, my dog was able to get large chunks off of it. I expected it to be a lot more durable for the price. It might be good for fetch/water play, but it is definitely not a chew toy.
My German Shepard loves the Hive chew! The material is really durable and he loves it more than his other toys. I was also thrilled to see that it floats in water. What a nice bonus! I also love that they support a great cause!
