I first bought these at a local pet store when my boy was a puppy. He liked them and still does. Problem is he’s now 120 pounds and the “treats” are MAYBE only half a bag and then they turn to dust. Chewy replaced a bag for me and they came mostly intact. Thought it was a shipping issue. It’s not. They just break apart when reaching into the bag I guess and you have half or more than half of just chicken dust left in the bag. Tried having him lick the dust out of my hand but a total mess. Could use as a topper but I don’t. Sadly my dog really likes these treats but they just aren’t treats and too messy to work with.
With multiple cats, it is more cost-efficient to get this larger size, which is the same thing as the small bags geared for cats, but larger pieces. Which my cats will do anything for. I store the unopened bags securely after finding one chewed open and half-consumed. Once opened, half the bag is poured into a 1 quart glass jar, with the remaining bag and jar stored in the refrigerator. Glass jar with a sturdy lid, because I've seen what happens if it is accidentally left out.
Lately, we have been purchasing this product and it seems like it’s hit or miss in terms of its consistency. Sometimes there is an odor that is very stale. We’ve returned it a few times. I suggest that people watch out and if it isn’t good to return it ASAP.
I have savannah cats F1's and F7's. I use this as a food topper and treats. My cats are very large so the Purebites in the cat section are just not big enough for my savannah's. So I end up buy the 1.75 pound bag in the dog treats section and the chunks of chicken are huge which is perfect for my F1 female she loves Purebites. It's a bit pricey on the retail end but Chewy offered a deal so it was totally worth it.
the product is great but unfortunately it doesn't stay together, so by the time I get it it is a lot of dehydrated chicke powder or flakes that I just have to use in dog food and can't use as treats...I don't know if it in the shipping or if it is in the packaging, but unfortunately only about 1/2 the bag is treats.
My dog and cat Love these freeze dried chicken peices. I just buy the dog bag so they can share. I use them as treats. Sometimes I rip them into smaller pieces and add a little water to hydrate them. Just because.
Our dog didn't enjoy these too much straight out of the bag. We tried using them as training treats since they break apart easily and aren't greasy, but they just turn into crumbs (pretty messy when needing to be nimble on walks). Our dog ate a few bites of these but then turned her nose up to them.
I recently found out that one of my dogs is full blown diabetic. I didn't have to change my food, but I had to change my snacks. This is highly approved on the diabetic scale. All my dogs love them. A little pricey, but worth it.
the purebites are expensive but our dogs like them and they are a healthy training treat but I wish they would package them so they don't arrive as dust when we receive them in our shipments. Sometimes the fault is the person putting them in the box and squishing them between a bag of dog food and a bag of cat food but better factory packaging would help.
Only problem that I have with these is the don’t last. Using them to give Petsmile to my dogs instead of brushing. Use them for training or to get my dogs to come in when they might get into trouble outside.
