Kitty with pancreatitis will eat it-with caveat

I found Purebites Salmon to replace the Stella and Chewy's Sealicious, which turned greasy with an acrid smell and she refused it with great panic. She stopped eating for 5 days, and didn't speak to me for 2 weeks. It was disturbing because she was eating more than she had for over a year and was gaining some weight so that her spine wasn't sticking up anymore. She is a feral we trapped and had spayed, so she has stayed here with us and I brought her in trying to save her. She is 14. I ordered every freeze dried food in fish flavor that had reviews that said the food crumbled to powder because that is how I got her to eat the S and C food. In the smaller size bags of Purebites it does crumble to powder, not terribly greasy feel, and has a mild smell like the food she loved. However, it was missing something smell wise and she wasn't taking to it readily, so I crush Vital Ahi Tuna bites, and crush a small amount of Open Farms raw and mix it all up. She is eating more and more, and hopefully she will gain some weight. That is as long as the food doesn't change like S and C's did-here is the caveat. The 8 oz. bags are different. The food is reddish in color, greasier, has a stronger more acrid smell, and it is less powdery and more grainy. I have been slipping a few into her mix, and I can tell she smells it in there and isn't thrilled with it. If the small bags change to the same product in the 8 oz. bags I will have to find something else for her. On S and C, she was retching less, and not having the painful colic episodes she had been having. So far on this, there hasn't been much improvement, but she isn't eating enough yet, and it has only been around 2 weeks and it took 4 months on the other for her to be eating enough of the food before improvement came. This time she is also eating a small amount of Forza10. When we hit a bump like this where she stops eating, I usually offer six different foods and then go with the ones she samples for a few days in a row. The others I vacuum pack and save for the next bump or feed to her healthy siblings outside if they will eat it. For the moment, Purebites salmon in the smaller bag is a win for us-until they change it.

Strange unnecessary ingredients

While I was waiting for Halo freeze dried wild salmon to restock, I ordered this. Admittedly, I did not read the ingredients - just assumed it was all wild salmon

When I give my cat a nutritious cat food that he does not particularly care for, he is always excited when I crush these up and sprinkle them on the top. I also give him one or two cubes as a treat occasionally. We buy the larger bag so that we always have them around. Because the ones on his food are crushed he has to also consume some of his regular food which she does not particularly enjoy. No matter what the food. I am happy that I can get him to eat the nutritious food as well as these excellent and beloved treats.

My kitties were not fans

I thought with 97 percent salmon, my cats would go for these. A few times they tried it, but then ignored them. Bummer. My dog is willing to eat them

Fishballs! Cats love them!

Think of these as cheeseballs are for people but these are fishballs for cats. They have that totally munchable, light, airy crunch that you get from a cheeseball

This Freeze-dried Was Frozen Out
