Enrich Plus Senior, has a colorful can't miss type bag. We tried it on 2 of our rescues, one is a mid-20s miniature and the other is a 20-year-old grade. They did not mind the taste; they gobbled it up at each meal. About 3 days into the transition phase we started noting an issue. Even with a slow proper transition (starting with about 25% change over at a time), they both developed diarrhea. I did not make it past 1/3 cup for the mini and a full cup for the horse. I gave them some time on it to see if it could have been something else (nothing changed but worth a try). Stopped it, diarrhea cleared up. Restarted it, diarrhea started again, stopping when I took them back off of it. I looked at the ingredients to see if there could have been something in there that was obvious as a cause but I did not see anything. We toyed with trying some of our other horses on it but opted not to. Would I try this on other horses in the future, possibly. It could have just been a fluke for these 2 horses.

I am trying out this product with my 2 super senior horses. One horse is a picky eater and the other is a total “chowhound”, easy keeper. During the taste test, my picky eater took a sniff, turned away, then came back and decided to give it a try. He determined this is a tasty product and ate it all up! My easy keeper ate it up without hesitation. I’m going to use this product to supplement their feed of hay pellets, a small amount of grain, and some hay. I’m anticipating this balancer to help maintain weight on my easy keeper, and help my picky eater gain some weight. So far, so good!

A little different but still good.

We’ve happily used Purina Enrich Plus for several years. This was our 1st bag of the Senior version of it. The size of the pellets seem the same, both are easy

We’ve happily used Purina Enrich Plus for several years. This was our 1st bag of the Senior version of it. The size of the pellets seem the same, both are easy to break with your fingertips so isn’t difficult to eat. The Senior has a fruity aroma to it unlike the regular version. Our horse was curious about that change but it didn’t take him long to acclimate to it. He really enjoys BOTH Purina Enrich Plus Ration Balancers.

Love Enrich ration balancer

Ive used purina Enrich as a ration balancer for several years. Our horses are on frass only Hay and limited pasture turnout. I think this product as an added supplement

Ive used purina Enrich as a ration balancer for several years. Our horses are on frass only Hay and limited pasture turnout. I think this product as an added supplement gives the the nutrition they need. I feed it daily about half of the recmmended ration so a bag lasts a long time. This is my first time trying the senior mix but I'm sure it's just as good as the regular. My oldest is 19 and youngest is 9 so pretty much seniors. They are both healthy have lovely shiny coats in simmer And good strong hooves. I think thiss product helps keep them that way

Great new product for senior easy keepers

I have been waiting for Purina to introduce a product like this. My 25 year old quarter mare is a super easy keeper along with having PPID so she needs her weight

I have been waiting for Purina to introduce a product like this. My 25 year old quarter mare is a super easy keeper along with having PPID so she needs her weight closely monitored. She only gets a cup of regular Purina Senior twice a day along with pasture and hay. She needs some form of concentrate to look and feel her best and I have tried all kinds of ration balancers along with the senior horse feed but they don't seem to fill her needs. I only feed Purina for safety and quality reasons. Purina Enrich Plus is a whole new way to think about feed for an easy keeper. It is concentrated and includes a ration balancer built in along with Purina's Outlast ingredients like regular Purina Senior. She eats it happily and now in the winter I notice she is holding her weight and increasing her overall condition. Transitioning to this feed is not like transitioning to most feeds as it is 32% protein which seems crazy high unless you realize you are feeding small amounts. Following the label instructions, if you are currently feeding a ration balancer like I was, you also need to discontinue that so as to not over supplement your horse and you do need to feed at least one pound per day for the horse to meet it's basic nutritional needs. It is more expensive than Purina Senior for example, but you feed much less so on a per day basis I think you come out even cost wise. At a rate of feeding of one pound a day, you are spending just less than $1 a day to feed this.

This feed is apparently formulated for senior horses that are easy keepers—horses that get fat even when eating just enough to get the minimum nutrients they need. So, this feed has limited starch/sugar, but relatively high protein content (32%) compared to other feeds. According to instructions on the bag, you can feed a maintenance amount of only 1lb per 1000lb horse along with hay or other forage. Feeds with the usual amount of protein might require three times that amount of feed to get the same amount of protein. We have three senior horses that are 20, 25, and 33 years old. Like many senior horses, our oldest is at the stage where she’s skinny and we’re trying to get her to eat every calorie she can. She only likes the very sweet, molasses senior feed now so we give her all of that we can. This food is not for her. However, the two younger horses tend to get fat, so this feed is perfect for them. Our 20-year-old is a miniature horse that founders very easily so we have to dry lot him during the growing season. This food will be perfect for him in the summers. He’s only about 350lbs so a 50lb bag of feed will last him quite a while as a supplement to his hay. This feed has a fairly strong, but pleasant, smell to it and he took to it very quickly. We’ve had good luck with Purina horse feeds over the years, so I’m happy we have this “ration balancer” option to feed to our easy keepers.

17 year old Gelding loves it

I have a 17 year old Appy gelding that is a hard keeper. Earlier this year he got Choke. I search for senior feed that meet requirements for keeping weight on him

I have a 17 year old Appy gelding that is a hard keeper. Earlier this year he got Choke. I search for senior feed that meet requirements for keeping weight on him and easily soak to create mush for him to eat. This feed seems to do well for him. It took about 15 minutes for the feed to turn to mush when adding water and my horse loved the flavor.

Having a 35 year old gelding comes with challenges. Keeping him well fed and healthy I'm constantly looking for the best feeds addressing his conditions. This Purina feed is great. He likes the taste and eagerly eats at meal time. His feed needs to be soaked and Enrich holds up well. It also helps to keep him hydrated especially during the cold winter months. I will continue feeding this product.

32% protein to increase weight gain.

My boy needs to put some weight on and my vet recommended adding a balancer with atleast 30% protein. This feed has 32% protein, so that's perfect. It is very palatable
