Ana developed diabetes out of the blue. Her pancreases stopped functioning. I was told she needed special food and shots twice a day. The shots were the easy part! I have purchased three different brands of Veterinary Diet Dog food. Quite a bit of money for each, but she wouldn't eat the first two. This is the brand that Im finally getting her to eat. I still need additives, but at least she is getting the nutrition she needs. Thank you.
Our Labrador is 11 and got to 126 pounds. Our Veterinarian suggested Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diet. With our Labrador having food allergies it worried us. She LOVES it and in just three months she's down to 104 and has long lost energy AND isn't starving! She loves it so much, she foams at the mouth while eating every bite.
I HAD an overweight lab so my vet put her on this food. She not only loves it, BUT it also keeps her ears dry. Prior to this food she was having many yeast ear infections. We started this food about 4 months ago but immediately after starting it her ears cleared up. I was going to try and stop it as she has lost 30 lbs and maintain with the other food I use for my fur babies. She has been on the other food for a WEEK only and her ears are infected again! I will be putting her back on this and keeping her on it. I highly recommend this food!
My vet recommended me this for my 82 lb Labrador who was aging. My vet told me many times that it’ll be harder for him to walk and his joints will suffer from the excessive weight. Proud to say at the age of 9 (almost 10), he lost 20 pounds and is in the best shape possible. He now weighs 60 pounds and quite frankly loves the food.
Took my 15 pound 4 year old off this good after a few weeks. She was pooping 6-7 times a day and drinking 4-5 bowls of water. It was like a laxative on steroids. The water drinking must have been caused by the salt content of the food. Also some of the nuggets were rubbery not crunchy. SCARY STUFF!
I have ordered and received 2 - 22lb bags of this dog food. First bag was fine, second bag not so much. I found the contents had larger chunks of the filler (lighter color) and less of the regular dog food. Not only that the amount or weight was off. How do I know? The first bag filled two containers that hold 10lbs each container was filled to the very top with about a pound left which I left in the bag and used first. Second bag: It didn't even fill both containers. The price is a bit excessive I thought, but I was willing to pay for the health of my dog. I do not feel the same now. I feel taken advantage of!
The dog loves this Overweight Management food. I was sure she would reject but she scarfed it down immediately. I'll keep you posted on her progress. Thanks
After our vet prescribed this I was wary of the ingredients, but tried it anyway to help my dog loose weight. After a few months of measuring every meal and doing exactly what my vet told us to do (plus additional exercise for my dog) her weight did not change at all. Her energy was low and she just did not look happy. I decided to switch her to a fresh food mail order diet (for the first time) and the weight has already started falling off. My 11 year old dog is so much happier and healthier and is acting like a crazy puppy again. Before trying this product I would look elsewhere.
My vet was out of this product. It was easy to obtain through Chewy by downloading a RX from vet. The process was easy and the dog food was delivered promptly.
The food was just what the doctor ordered! First time using Chewy and it was effortless and efficient!
