This supplement was highly recommended to us for our 1 yr old pup as he became very anxious after being neutered. The vet technician said this could happen because of hormonal imbalance. The supplement is not working after 5 weeks we are seeing no decrease in anxiety. I was skeptical with the recommendation but I am to trust the veterinarian. I truly think it is like all the other similar products out there and compare to modern day snake oil. I do not recommend.

Our vet recommended this in AM as part of the treatment plan for my 14 year old with Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome and it has significantly helped with daytime anxieties. Ran out for a week or so and gave her only a different calming chew and the difference was noticable. She has always had an iron stomach so no GI issues. We'll likely always keep this on hand.

I have a Samoyed who get very anxious around normal household sounds like the washer and dryer etc. She sometimes has issues settling at night and gets separation anxiety. I thought this would help since I use other ProPlan products for my cats and I’ve had good luck but it didn’t. Zero help with her anxiety.

This Rough Collie has a fascination for school buses. When the buses come by the house or are stopped out front, she spins, paces, and barks incessantly. She is beautifully obedience trained and doesn't react to any other stimulus. She isn't reactive to dogs, other people, other vehicles, just the school buses. I wanted to try the Calming Care to see if it would help her get herself under control. I started with part of a packet to be sure is didn't cause diarrhea. Over the next few days I increased the dose until she was getting the recommended dose. At the end of a week of the full dose she began to exhibit a very exaggerated startle reflex. Any sharp noise would cause her to cower or cringe and shiver. This went on for a few days and it was sad to see. So I stopped the Calming Care. After a week of not using the product, and with no other changes to her diet or environment she reverted to her usual bouncy happy Collie self. I was curious so I started the product again. Started with half a packet and worked up to the full dose. In three days she began to manifest the same high startle reflex, cringing, and shivering when sharp noises occured. So I stopped the product again. And in a week she was back to her old self. Back to barking at the school buses but it certainly was preferable to having her demonstrating the high startle reflex and being so afraid. She is an adult Rough Collie and she is tested as an MDR1 dog. Maybe this makes a difference with using the product. If you have a herding dog perhaps it would be wise to do some research into the products that are not appropriate for dog with the MDR1 gene mutation. You can find information by Goggling MDR1 dog breeds and medication sensitivity.

We used Calming care for over a year and really don’t believe it helped. Our girl has bad anxiety and we tried so many products, and medications. We finally gave up on them all (with our veterinarian’s approval) and she is no worse and I would argue a little better.

I am writing this review about three months after using this product daily with my nervous 4 year old sighthound. He was dealing with some pretty significant night-time anxiety and would often hide in bed trembling for no reason after dark. Full vet workup and consult with trainer diagnosed him with anxiety, and about once weekly he would need Gabapentin/Trazodone to calm down enough to sleep. For two months I used it and saw absolutely zero improvement. I decided on a whim to buy one more box and I'm glad I did! The past few weeks Ive noticed my dog has been more playful and relaxed and I have not needed to give him anxiety meds at all for two weeks. My pill pockets are collecting dust! Overall I feel this product can be really helpful but you need to be patient and have the expectation that it may take time to be effective.

My dogs love me taste

I haven’t been using this product long enough to see a change in arousal levels in my dogs, but the powder is easy to dispense and they gobble it up.

Seems okay

So far, this seems like it is working for our dog. We had been using melatonin for calming but switched to this powder. Not sure if I can see a complete change

We've been using the powder for 13 days and I've noticed a difference in my dogs anxiety on our walks. He's normally reactive and as soon as he spots an intimidating looking dog, it would be difficult to get his attention on the "Focus" or "Leave it" cues. On this supplement, he responds to my cues a lot more and is able to remain calm. It's a little pricey, but he loves the taste and I like the results so far!

It does help

Our girl has so much fear-based anxiety. We have done training and all that-(we’ve been working on this for years) but I really would like for her to just be more comfortable and less jumpy. For her own well-being! I decided to give this a try- and it does take 6 weeks or so to have noticeable results. But for our girl, it has indeed helped! Her fear/reactivity toward other dogs is noticeably less. Still nervous- but rather than over-reacting, she has a much more steady way about her. She also isn’t as aggressively barking when people come to the door, and calms quickly. It isn’t a cure- but it’s calmed her a bit.
