is the scratch pad replaceable?
Answer by ChewyNov 17, 2020
We do not carry the scratch pad replacement, they are available through the manufacturer directly.

Is there a solid board behind the sisal scratching pad, or is it simply suspended in front frame?
Answer by ChewyJan 29, 2021
The A-Frame is a wooden frame with a wooden surface on which the sisal rests--it is designed this way for durability and sturdiness.

How does the scratch pad attach to the side? My cats have never taken to sisal but I wonder if I might be able to DIY a carpet remnant for that space instead.
Answer by ChewyDec 23, 2021
The sisal should come off easily. It is on there with screws on each corner. It easily fits a 20 X 20 piece of carpet. You could easily replace the sisal with the carpet.

Are there holes all the way through the bottom board? The mahogany bed looks like partially drilled holes. I want to put this over a vent to warm my pets bed. Thanks.
Answer by ChewyDec 01, 2021
The holes go through the bottom piece. Please refer to the picture included below for assembly instructions for the A-Frame.

Decent quality

The furniture is of a decent quality. My cats have used the scratcher a few times. The top works as a decent end table. They have gone into the bed area but haven't yet slept there but the bed is a nice firm-like memory foam with a microsuede fabric over it, which is more comfortable than most cat beds I have seen. It is a bit pricey, which is the only reason it is not 5 stars. But I do expect this to last and it is made of actual wood and not laminate over particle board.

Brackets were bent

My cats have a distaste for Sisal, and the brackets were bent and I had to pound them with a hammer to make them work. Takes 2 people to put this together. One cat has adjusted to the Sisal.

Nice, sturdy little table

I'm getting a new sofa so I wanted to be proactive about preventing any scratching and offer an alternative. Plus this doubles as an end table, although it might be a bit tall. It's very nice quality for the price. However I did not like that the side that goes up against the sofa is open so the cats might be tempted to scratch there. Before we put it together we placed a piece of stiff plastic (left over from a balcony protector I had bought) over the open side and stapled it in place with a staple gun. Since most people would want to put this next to a sofa I think it should have come with some sort of plastic guard, which is why I took off one star. However it was pretty simple to add the plastic. As others said, there are a million screws so definitely use an electric screwdriver or drill.

great just don't put the brackets on backwards

this shelf is awesome and i'd buy it again in a heartbeat. my anxious cat loves hiding in the little cubby bed spot. that said, the instructions aren't clear about which way the brackets go and if you aren't careful its easy to accidentally assemble with them backwards.

wouldn’t buy again

If you think you’ll get this assembled on Christmas Eve in time for Christmas, you better enlist some help. The plotted holes for the screws are just a hair off, so you have to force the screws into the wood. Now after earning several blisters and three hours work, the unit is finally ready. After all that work, my cats aren’t even interested in using it.

Functional and cute

It was a bit challenging at the last step to put together but overall love it and so do my cats!

Getting one for the other end of the couch

Very surprised how popular this is. Getting a second one to keep the peace!

assembly is a bit intimidating, but takes less than an hour

The wood was just like I imagined and all the parts seemed sturdy, but I was a bit daunted by assembly. 72 screws and 45 minutes later, I had a great piece of furniture that's keeping my cat away from my couch. Highly recommend. Very classy-looking

Perfect scratch posts

Our cats love these side tables. They have their own furniture!

Cat Scratch/Table

This is a brilliant idea! It requires a LOT of work to assemble - need a power tool. As a furniture piece it is lovely. Unfortunately my cat has ZERO interest is the sisal surface or the bed. Also, it's really big - too big to use as an end table. I'm in the process of trying to find someone to either buy it from me at a discount or just take it off my hands. So, I guess I regret the purchase. I'm not going to disassemble to return the product. :-(
