How many cups are in one package of 7?

Answer by ChewyJun 18, 2025
There are approximately 15.4 cups in the Adult Frozen Dog Food 7 pack of the 14.1oz packages, which each contain approx 2 1/4 cups. The 8.8oz contains approx 1 cup per package, so approx 7 cups per pack of 7.

Why does this formula have such a high sodium level out of range with small animal nutrition guidelines?

Answer by ChewyJul 05, 2025
On a dry matter basis, this formula contains about 0.67% sodium, which is under the generally accepted safe upper limit (~1.5% DM) for adult dogs. Where it looks “high” is mostly due to how guidelines are expressed and the nature of wet/frozen diets. Royal Canin has formulated this adult food with a sodium level that supports palatability and urinary health, while staying safely within nutritional guidelines when correctly interpreted on a dry matter basis. If your dog has specific health concerns (like hypertension or renal insufficiency), you should consult your veterinarian for a lower-sodium prescription diet.

What is the sodium content and phosphorous on a DMA basis?

Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2025
The sodium content is 0.67% on a dry matter basis and 0.16% as fed basis. The phosphorus content is 0.74% on a dry matter basis and 0.18% as fed basis.

What is the dry matter content for Protein, Fat, Fiber, Calcium & Phosphorus?

Answer by ChewyJun 28, 2025
The protein content of this food is 7.68% as fed, and 30.7% on a dry matter basis. The fat content of this food is 5.87% as fed, and 23.47% on a dry matter basis. The total dietary fiber is 1.08% as fed, and 4.33% on a dry matter basis. The calcium content is 0.21% as fed, and 0.83% on a dry matter basis, and the phosphorus content is 0.18% as fed and 0.74% on a dry matter basis.

Due to cost I can't imagine feeding it to a large dog, but mine is small. I tried the puppy variety and she would not eat it at all. It took a try or two with this adult variety and she has decided to like it. I mix it half and half with RC kibble. I have confidence in the brand, which is a big part of it, as well as the support of Chewy.

I guess I didn’t comprehend what I was ordering when I read the size. For $49.98, I thought it would be a decent amount of food. I have two very large dogs and based on feeding instructions, this tiny amount (7cups total) will feed one dog for one day. Who spends $50 per day to feed their one dog? Do not buy this food, so much better deals elsewhere.

I was really excited for this product because Royal canine is such a trusted brand name. My dog unfortunately eat it at first ends up, not liking afterwards. We were searching her from JustFoodForDogs because we trusted this brand more, but unfortunately it just doesn’t taste as good to her.

Great product!

I got this for my dog due to a promotion I saw. I thought my dog would like it, but he didn’t like the vegetables in it. He’s more of a dog who likes more meat. Still, my in-laws were able to use it and give it to animals at their house.

Frozen food meant to be fresh but none of my dogs ate it

What a waste of money. I was so excited to try it, followed instructions to thaw and reheat, but none of my 3 Poms wanted it. I refused to give them anything else to try to make them eat the food, and after 8 hours, surrendered to the fact that none would eat it. I’m very disappointed with the brand.

I have to hear it in order for Anya to eat.

It's not best to go by my reviews in some cases because I have the pickiest dog on the planet. She's not a fan of rice and only eats half a bag at best in a sitting. When her sister (our cat) sees me put down warm food she instantly wants some and I've found if I give her a tiny bit on a teaset plate (from my granddaughter), then Anya eats better. Royal Canin is an excellent company. Anya eats a dry science diet formula now and although it keeps her healthy and of course I have trusted them for 40 years, I like the idea of being able to see what my child is eating. Like I said. Anya is picky.

Packaging

It takes too much packaging to ship. Not environmentally responsible. Takes freezer room. Vacuum pack is crinkled and food gets stuck in package. Pup loves food

It takes too much packaging to ship. Not environmentally responsible. Takes freezer room. Vacuum pack is crinkled and food gets stuck in package. Pup loves food. Economically and avoid adding significantly to waste removal, cook your own and freeze. Also, first bag out was a challenge. Tight smaller bags frozen together.

Our new vet recommended it

My opinion, it's too full of carbs, too little meat. Looks kind of vegetarian. All three of my dogs ate it, but one of them upchucked it all almost immediately

None of my dogs really cared for this. It looked really good like it would be something I would eat, but it smelled like it had seasoning. I didn’t taste it, of course, but maybe that’s why my dogs didn’t like it cause it was too seasoned for them compared to what they’re used to. Even my big dogs didn’t really like, and they’re definitely not as picky as my little dogs.
