Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO Loaf In Sauce Canned Cat Food, 5.8-oz, case of 24

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO in Gel Canned Food was developed to nutritionally support urinary tract and bladder health in adult cats. It dilutes excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones by increasing the amount of urine your cat produces. This formula promotes a urinary environment unwelcoming to both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. This specialized nutrition, with a reduced level of magnesium, also helps your cat return to and maintain urinary tract health.
Key Benefits- Formulated for adult cats with urinary health issues.
- Dissolves pure struvite stones and helps prevent calcium oxalate stones.
- Dilutes excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones.
- Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology is used to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation.
- Helps with peeing outside the litterbox and cats straining to go.

Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. Just what my girl needed!
By Alayna on Feb 6, 2021
About 1 year ago my little female kitty zelda started having trouble peeing one morning and only blood was coming out, it scared me beyond belief! Took her to the vet the same day and found out she had what the vet called bladder crystals and they were causing a blockage. My poor girl was so miserable and it broke my heart. My vet recommended this food to treat her. She is super picky and has a sensitive stomach so I was worried she would not keep this food down. But she absolutely loves the food, she gets so excited for meal times. She sometimes can not keep it down, but that only happens a few times a month. She has been eating this for a year now and we have not had any issues at all with About 1 year ago my little female kitty zelda started having trouble peeing one morning and only blood was coming out, it scared me beyond belief! During the day she eats dry food. This has helped keep the cost down since this is so expensive. 1/4 can a day seems to be enough since she has been perfectly healthy since. … more

Cosmo loves this!
By Felina on Feb 25, 2021
My 14 year old kitty has eaten Royal Canin Urinary SO dry food for 10 years due to lower urinary tract disease. He never liked can food, even before this diagnosis. About 2 months ago he was diagnosed with diabetes and began to show interest in the can food we give our other kitties. I got him some Urinary SO cans and he just loves it! He cleans his plate every time. A big plus since my understanding is that can food is preferred for diabetic kitties.

Dented Cans
By KittyBrMow on Feb 8, 2021
While I appreciate the fact that I received my order the day after placing it, I received a case of dented cans of Royal Canin Urinary SO cat food (5.8oz loaf in sauce). The box it was shipped in wasn't dented, so they were dented before shipping. This prescription diet food is expensive, and I'm hoping the dented cans haven't affected the quality of the food. Very disappointed with this experience, and it makes me hesitant to order from Chewy again.

Changed their recipe. Horrible smell!!!
By Horrible on Feb 22, 2021
I had been using this for over a year and it was great until they changed their recipe. It smelled horrible!!! I had to throw it out. When I tried to reach Royal Canin to find out what happened, I got put on hold for over 1/2 an hour. It is a drag because now I have to find a replacement. Also, it is very expensive. I can only guess they had to cut costs so, they got cheaper ingredients?

Great Customer Service
By Sunshine60 on Mar 4, 2021
We nearly lost our cat to urinary crystals. Our vet prescribed Royal Canin Urinary SO. Chewy made uploading the prescription so easy! Now we are are on a subscription. No having to worry about running out of food for our cat, no having to shlep heavy cans from the vet’s office, there is a lot to be said about this kind of peace.

Prescribed For My 4 Year Old
By Mick on Jan 14, 2021
This wet food was my vets preferred food after he was at the hospital for several days with urinary blockage and infections. It took 2 weeks to get him to eat it but finally accomplished that by removing his old food from the other cats. I put all 5 on this food and he began to eat it. There was several days of throw up too. I had to switch their food rather quick and that’s not really a friendly way to do it. He. Is also on the dry version and I think that was more the culprit of the throw up. About 2 months into it now and all 5 cats are doing good on this. Missing 1 star due to the lower quality of ingredients and the very expensive cost. I don’t mind pay more for quality food but this is This wet food was my vets preferred food after he was at the hospital for several days with urinary blockage and infections. He likes it
By Danny on Feb 1, 2021
He liked the taste right away. Two different vets recommended it for his FLUTD. Due to stress, he had an inflamed bladder. Doing better, although his recovery has been slow. His vet gave me a sheet of info about this food. It said that in a study, the cats on this diet had zero recurrence compared to cats on regular diet. I don’t know if that will apply to all cats or if his specific condition will respond as well as the cats in study, but I am hopeful.

The best cat slurry
By Rosie on Jan 19, 2021
I was having a difficult experience getting canned Royal Canin Urinary SO Loaf from my vet's third party provider. I was told that Royal Canin was on back order for the past 2 months. I decided to turn to Chewy for the food. And what a difference in customer service, and getting the food that my cat needed in 4 days. Even though there was a price difference, it was more than worth it to get the food after ordering on line and confirming vet. prescription. Well worth the extra few dollars! I mix the loaf food with some warm water and make a slurry which my cat loves to eat.

Expensive but worth it
By Danielle on Jan 25, 2021
My male cat had some bladder stones removed almost three years ago. Which was a $1200 vet bill. The vet suggested I start feeding him this food to try to help prevent any further issues. We have not had any bladder problems since then, at all, and he likes the taste of this food. We feed it in conjunction with the dry variety of this same food and he likes both. The only reason I am taking off one star is because this food is really pricey, but to keep my cat healthy it’s worth it.

expensive cat
By guidodiet on Jan 31, 2021
While I haven't tasted it myself, the cat seems to enjoy it. It's definitely easier for his deteriorating dental condition than the kibble of the same prescription. Can't speak for the taste (thank goodness) but I can tell you that it smells REALLY bad which does NOT help his dental condition when he sits on my lap and starts to preen. Oh well, it's for his health right?!
