I thought it was time for my small cat to get a bigger, nicer tunnel, one with a perch atop. Also with the all-important sisal coverage for scratching. I don't know if it's too big or it's the smell of the carpet, glue, who knows... or just cat persnicketiness. After a month of her avoiding it at all costs, treats included, I gave up and put the old frayed smaller tunnel back in place and she's having a blast again playing on it. I will point out I am disappointed in the quality of the sisal. It is a thick weave and rougher than any sisal rug or mat my cat has had over several years. I actually got a splinter from it. I tried to soften the fibers with a wire brush but no joy. My indoor cat's "beans" may not have liked that. The finer, tighter weave pattern of typical sisal cat scratching mats would be much better for us. The piece is constructed very sturdily, which is good because playing cats can easily tip over lesser cat furniture. However the top platform began warping within a week or so and my house is not humid. I will probably end up giving this to a rescue group as it's too large to keep unused, especially when my cat will not even get on it for treats. Your mileage may vary.
