Is the supplement suppose to have small particles floating in the fluid? It looks odd for a liquid to have solid particles around the applicator and caked at the top.

Answer by ChewyJul 29, 2021
The liquid in this supplement is smooth, but a bit grainy and you can see the ingredients in the liquid. You can get a bit of precipitate that forms at the top of the dropper where there is some air present. This is entirely normal. It is best to gently shake the liquid prior to using. This liquid is called a “suspension”. The dry ingredients are held in suspension in the liquid through the use of viscosity agents like xanthan gum.

Can you advise what gives this product its chicken flavoring? It it an artificial flavor or animal product?

Answer by ChewyOct 01, 2019
The natural flavor in this supplement is derived from hydrolyzed chicken protein, making it hypoallergenic.

How long will this last for 9lb dog

Answer by ChewyJun 13, 2020
One (1) ml should be administered twice daily, with meals, for every 10-20 pounds of body weight. In your case, this supplement should last roughly 4 months.

My dog has kidney failure. Can I give him Hepato?

Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2019
Due to your pet's specific health concern, we recommend consulting your Veterinarian to see what would be the safest fit for your pet's current treatment plan.

My cat's Veterinarian recommended this medication for his high liver count. Before ordering, I read many of the comments from other pet owners about this product. The majority of the comments were not too favorable and complained that the liquid was very lumpy and that the smell was very strong. Some commented that their pets refused to eat their food. Based on the comments, I wasn't sure if my cat would eat his food even though he's not much f a "picky" eater. I feed my cat mostly wet food (which he loves) so I add drops of the medicine and mix it in his food. So far - and to my delight, my cat hasn't experienced any problems with the taste of the medication in his food and eats his food to the last drop. The liquid isn't lumpy at all either. So far so good.

When my wife opened the bottle, the liquid was lumpy and smelled bad, but she thought it might be normal for something chicken flavored, so she gave a small amount to our 10-pound poodle anyway. Within a few minutes our dog was throwing up and hardly moved the rest of the day. We don't recommend this product to anyone who loves their dog.

When our vet recommended a liver supplement, we were worried it would be a hassle to try to either give our dog a pill or have to force a liquid into her mouth every day. So it was a relief to find this form of the supplement! We simply put the appropriate amount of the liquid on her food twice a day, and fortunately our dog loves the taste.

Not sure if this will help in any way with Prince’s liver dysfunction as only follow-up labs will tell. Easy to administer but spills all the time, even when dropper is handled carefully. Using this in conjunction with Denamarin (from vet) plus a liver diet (prescribed) dog food. Did not want to rely on this alone.

Got this to help my elderly cat with some liver issues, it was offered in a chicken flavor to make it more palatable for her. However it smelled horrible, was a strange chunky texture, and she wouldn’t eat it at all. Tried to dilute it and she still would eat her food or treats if there was even one or two drops of this in it. Not to say it’s necessarily a bad product, but it didn’t work for us and I question the smell and flavor immensely.

Didn't work

When I put this in our cat's food, he would not eat. We ended up getting a liver supplement in pill form, and he gobbled them up in Pill Pockets, no problem.

Questionable Taste

I was hoping my cat would like this but it seems to have a vitamin smell that even I notice. That smell tends to overpower the chicken flavor. She doesn’t like it very well but I am managing to get some of it in her by mixing it with canned food, or those “ “Delectables” treats in the tubes that Chewy sells. When this bottle of Hepato Liver Support is gone I will switch to something else, probably the homeopathic liver support that Chewy sells, because it reportedly does not have a taste or smell.
