I really wish my cat would take these. The capsule size is too large to hide in a pill pocket, and opening the capsule to sprinkle the powder on her food results in food that will not get eaten. She can smell it, so then just wastes both the food and supplement.
I am very happy with my purchase and will continue. A lot cheaper then the vets for my cats special food and pill. Thank you
I believe that these ingredients are very beneficial for chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, this is a perfect example of those in the supplement business who only care about making money from you and could care less if this medicine is given or successful. The capsule size is large for cats - I believe this is a number 3 capsule. And the dosage is 2 capsules per day. How many people are able to successfully pill a cat twice a day without introducing a large amount of stress into your lives and harming your relationship with your cat? The contents inside the capsule are bitter and taste awful, most cats will not accept this mixed in food, and you should never mix medicine with food because that will ultimately lead to food aversion, making your life incredibly stressful and difficult. The company could make this in liquid form or put it into a treat, but they don't care about the end result of the consumer and the pet. There are treats and liquids on the market with some of these ingredients that I have been able to get into my CKD cats - I suggest you try those first.
I purchased this as a substitute for the VetriScience Renal Essentials since it is currently out of stock. It has basically the same herbs but the milligrams are much reduced, so it's not as effective. If I increased the capsules beyond 2, my boy got diarrhea.
My 14 year old cat was diagnoised with renal failure in December. She had been on Royal Canin Renal Cat food but it was not much help lowering the numbers. My Vet recommended we try Rx Renal Feline and after a couple of months her numbers have dropped to almost normal range. It also comes in beadlets to sprinkle on food if giving a capsule is difficult.
My Rudy has emerging kidney disease and I've started him on the Rx Renal Feline; the capsules are a sure way to make certain he's getting the dose he needs and his kidney values have shown improvement.
I have been using the RxRenal Feline powder for years as an extra help for my kitty. Easy to use just mix in food or liquid treat. Since they stopped making the powder started with the capsules. They work just as good and the same dosage as the powder form. Just sprinkle in food and provide extra help for your kitty.
