This retractable pet gate requires two flat perpendicular surfaces, so if you have a baseboard it would not work unless a flat surface is created.

How fast and easy is this gate to open and close with only one hand?

This gate can be easily opened and closed with one hand. To open, simply press the button on the side near the handle. The gate will automatically retract, folding back on itself. To close, grab the handle and pull the guard back until you hear it click into the gate.

Can I remove any panel if its too wide for my opening area?

The panel can be removed to adjust the width with the supplied key.

It’s tough to find a good baby gate for ferrets. One of my ferrets is a master climber and athlete and she has not been able to get over this gate. I did set the gate lower than the instructions though, leaving a much smaller gap between the floor and gate. Otherwise my littlest ferret would have easily squeezed under. It’s more expensive that other gates, but well worth it, so much so I got a second one!

Keeps the cat out, sturdy enough, looks good

This was a great purchase. It keeps the cat out of the kitchen when I’m cooking and keeps him out of the main living area when I want to sleep and not be annoyed

Smells AWFUL

This gate smells like cat-pee and wetdog. I either got a used one that stinks or wherever these are being stored before being shipped is from somewhere that smells

This gate smells like cat-pee and wetdog. I either got a used one that stinks or wherever these are being stored before being shipped is from somewhere that smells bad. Love the concept of the gate itself. Using it for my toddler's room door way because my cat fit through all the other style gates, so we like the gate....but it holds an awful smell. We are going to try disinfectant cleaner.

Beware the dimensions

There are two ways to mount this: inside and outside a doorway. According to the included instructions, this gate fits 35” doorways if mounted inside, but only 31”

There are two ways to mount this: inside and outside a doorway. According to the included instructions, this gate fits 35” doorways if mounted inside, but only 31” doorways if mounted outside. If you want the advertised 36” width for an outside installation, you can order additional slats to make it wider (which is very easy to do). This is fine, but it should be described this way so buyers can be fully informed and order everything up front instead of finding out while installing. I’ll update the stars of my review when I can fully install the gate with additional slats.
