Dogs: SENERGY kills adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching for one month and is indicated for the prevention and control of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, and the treatment and control of ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) infestations. SENERGY also is indicated for the treatment and control of sarcoptic mange (Sarcoptes scabiei) and for the control of tick infestations due to Dermacentor variabilis. Cats: SENERGY kills adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching for one month and is indicated for the prevention and control of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, and the treatment and control of ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) infestations. SENERGY is also indicated for the treatment and control of roundworms (Toxocara cati) and intestinal hookworm (Ancylostoma tubaeforme) infections in cats.
PRECAUTIONS: Prior to administration of SENERGY, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections. At the discretion of the veterinarian, infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms. Selamectin is not effective against adult D. immitis and, while the number of circulating microfilariae may decrease following treatment, selamectin is not effective for microfilariae clearance. Hypersensitivity reactions have not been observed in dogs with patent heartworm infections administered three times the recommended dose of selamectin. Higher doses were not tested. ADVERSE REACTIONS: Pre-approval clinical trials: Following treatment with selamectin, transient localized alopecia with or without inflammation at or near the site of application was observed in approximately 1% of 691 treated cats. Other signs observed rarely (?0.5% of 1743 treated cats and dogs) included vomiting, loose stool or diarrhea with or without blood, anorexia, lethargy, salivation, tachypnea, and muscle tremors. Post-approval experience: In addition to the aforementioned clinical signs that were reported in pre-approval clinical trials, there have been reports of pruritus, urticaria, erythema, ataxia, fever, and rare reports of death. There have also been rare reports of seizures in dogs.
No food and drug interactions have been reported.
WARNINGS: Not for human use. Keep out of the reach of children. In humans, SENERGY may be irritating to skin and eyes. Reactions such as hives, itching and skin redness have been reported in humans in rare instances. Individuals with known hypersensitivity to SENERGY should use the product with caution or consult a health care professional. SENERGY contains isopropyl alcohol and the preservative butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). Wash hands after use and wash off any product in contact with the skin immediately with soap and water. I just tried to add a very long review but it wasn't a very nice one so chewy wouldn't let me post it. This medication gave my Chi-Poo a severe seizure. I had used it twice prior the second application my dog was lethargic and slept for 24 hours I didn't find that super alarming since there's so many chemicals mixed in to synergy. The third application the beginning of September 2022 my dog had a severe seizure on Labor Day weekend and the emergency veterinarian never called back so I had to handle the seizure best I could. Thank God I had some experience with seizures and dogs. 25 minutes after application is when the seizure happened I quickly washed the area where it was applied and gave my dog honey which is a good source of sugar for hypoglycemia which can happen during a seizure it also can cause seizures but my dogs never been hypoglycemic and it's just too much of a coincidence that my dog had a seizure 25 minutes after application. I cut my dog and a dark warm place where it was quiet and continued to give him honey for glucose replacement every hour for the next 10 hours. My dog was rigid and could not move I was fearful of coma. After 14 hours he began to get his feet under him again he did not recover fully for 24 hours. I will always protect my dog from heartworm infection but I'll never use a multi-chemical application like synergy that's just way too many chemicals for a dog's body to handle in my opinion. If you read the interactions that could happen seizure is low on the list in my opinion I have a feeling it's high on the list and even talks about death, and death was certainly a possibility with my dog. I'm just thankful he pulled through I'll never use this synergy again and I'll never recommend it to anyone yet I have 15 refills left it all is going in the trash. If you continue to use synergy please stay with your dog for the first 12 hours don't leave them alone thinking they're going to be fine after this application. Keep an eye on them to make sure that they're not having a reaction. Let's hope this post and offers to add a picture but I'm not going to try to do that this time I don't want to lose the review again.
This did not work at all on my 5 lb chihuahua. Not one flea dropped and my dog is still itching to the point of red skin. After two weeks and a bath I was able to find 5 fleas just on the bottom of her. Waste of money. When I reached out to chewy they did not offer a resolution and told me to reach out to the manufacturer I can not seem to contact.
I looked for flea medicine for my New kitten who is under pound when I got him.. He have bad case of flea even though Vet had a put solution on him , twice! I'm very happy with this med, it seems work right away!
My vet recommended this product for my 2.5 lb Maltese puppy. I was hesitant at first but my vet reassured me it was safe to use as she uses the product on rescue kittens. My vet even provided me with a brochure so I could read about it. I trust my vet. I have never had flea nor tick problems in my home and yard, nor have my previous dogs ever had heartworm. This product was easy to apply and my fur baby had no side effects. I even gave my fur baby a bath a week and half later after applying this topical medicine. Seems to be working well as still no issues. I think I will stay with this topical med since my little one does not like taking pills.
