Great for cats not fond of wet food

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I originally started my first cat on Sheba perfect portions because she wasn't a big wet food eater, no matter what brand I tried and I hated wasting half of a 3 oz. can since she got tired of it or didn't like it. Now that I have 2 cats, the variety pack and volume buy was great so each of them got SOME wet food every day, even if their whole diet wasn't made of it. They both really seem to enjoy all the flavors of Sheba and they clean their bowls, nothing left or wasted. I do find the Beef Pate is very, very dry and firm and it needs a lot of water to thin it out, unlike the Whitefish which is very liquidy and soft. Now that I have 2 cats, I will admittedly go back to small 3oz. cans and split them for each cat. Why 4 stars? The trays create a lot of waste and some of them are insanely difficult to peel open. I also would like more variety - most of the flavors (even ones not in this variety pack) have almost identical ingredients and are simply branded with a different "prominent" flavor. These are great budget buys for picky cats and I was glad to have them, but I'm willing to try something different! … more

    No damage to Sheba box

    By on

But inside was a mess. The containers where solid, yet the labels were punctured and food had seeped out all over the place. Very messy and it must have happened a while before shipping as the beef portions that came out where dried and hard as a rock. Cannot feed this to my baby. He has terrible gums, had teeth removed and had trouble with every canned food except Sheba perfect portions. I will have to by locally as I started locally and never had anything like this. So I won't be ordering Sheba Perfect Portions from Chewy. The packages received have a newer expiration date on them and the quality seems like they have been kept in a hot environment. It is very hard to get the other flavors But inside was a mess. The containers where solid, yet the labels were punctured and food had seeped out all over the place. It is very hard to get the other flavors to slide out of their containers. Hope I can talk the dog into eating this cat food. Not good quality for a cat with a poor mouth. Even the other 4 "normal" cats won't touch any of the beef out of this box and they hesitate with the other flavors; yet they tried to eat all the Sheba bought locally. … more

good price for a great product

    By on

i love the price and the ease of this product. My cat always wasted the cans of food and he never liked the leftovers. Guess I have a picky cat. So when I discovered that these were halves of a cat it made perfect sense for my cat and he eats almost all of the food in each half. This is like a 2 month supply for me and my cat because we use 1 each day. I wish they had some of the more unique flavors in the bundles though, but I can just buy 1 or 2 of those at pet smart.

    Two paws up!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I'm trying to help my little girl (little being a relative term) lose some weight, and the vet recommended adding more wet food to her diet because it's generally lower calorie than kibble. The only problem is, she's never met a kibble she didn't like (except the weight-loss varieties, of _course_!), and she's very finicky about wet foods. I've finally figured out it's because she prefers to "lap up" her food rather than just grab a mouthful with her teeth, and most pates are dense enough that she can lap the moisture out of them, but then they ball up and won't stay on her tongue for her to get it into her mouth. (She apparently uses this lapping technique with her kibble, too, because she typically I'm trying to help my little girl (little being a relative term) lose some weight, and the vet recommended adding more wet food to her diet because it's generally lower calorie than kibble. (She apparently uses this lapping technique with her kibble, too, because she typically only picks up one kibble at a time.) Sheba pates are VERY moist, so as she laps it, she's getting food as well as the moisture on her tongue, and thus is more successful at eating it. She seems to like the shredded ones as well, but this pate is easier for her to eat than the meat shreds. My big boy, on the other hand (again, a relative term: he's a cat with a big frame, but he's not overweight), loves almost all wet foods, and would rather have that than his kibble -- but who can afford to feed a 15-lb cat nothing but wet food? So I mix it with his kibble, and he chows it all down, kibble and all. He's got no qualms about using his teeth to help him grab a mouthful of food! … more

    Product Description Mislabeled

    By on

I ordered the multipack of variety flavors in the 36 count expecting 'cuts in gravy', i received the Pate in error, and noticed on my order nowhere in the description says what cut it is, just the flavors. Pate products don't say 'pate' on the product description. The 'cuts in gravy' descriptions however are labeled correctly. It's a tiny detail to worry about in life, but my wife just kicked me out of the house, been quarantined for 2 months like everybody else, and I made my kitties wait over 2 weeks for the wrong kitty food to deliver. They hate pate. I will look at the pictures more diligently next time, but maybe Chewy can make it easier on me and update the descriptions.

Received this order today. Whats going on?

    By on

I received this order for pate type 12 beef, 12 chicken, and 12 tuna. What I got in the Sheba box was 6 beef, 12 chicken, and 18 tuna. This was obviously a Sheba packaging problem and not the fault of Chewy. I've tried to call Chewy about this, but after a long wait, I sent an email instead. Let's see what happens. I've attached a photo of what was in the Sheba box

    Easy and they like it.

    By on

Easy to get out of tray. Simple for on-the-go feeding when I'm running late in the morning. Probably not the best quality food in the world, but fits my budget and the cats like it.

I have a fat cat...so these portions are perfect.

    By on

So my cat is fat. He was fat when we adopted him and he's kind of a binge eater. When we gave him slightly larger portions of other canned foods he would greedily snarf it and then often times puke it back up because he was literally stuffing his face too fast. These portions are perfect, just the right amount and I don't have to have a gross can of cat food sitting in my fridge until the next mealtime. I like that there are pate variety packs and that I can have them auto-shipped with my standing dog food order.

    My 2 cats love this

    By on

My 2 older cats love this food and the varieties they offer. As my cats have grown older, they've grown more finicky. Whether this is due to a declining capacity to taste food, or not, they clean up their plates with Sheba. The packaging of the product also makes it easier to deal with. Recommend.

    Ouch, that hurts!

    By on

My cat Bennie absolutely LOVES this food. Problem is, he bites my toes while I'm sleeping so I get up to feed him. These really are perfect portions as he always finishes his breakfast. They are easy to open and just throw the container away so you don't have to deal with any mess or smell on your hands. If they ever stop making this food I don't know what I'll do. If you haven't tried the variety pack you should, you won't be disappointed, nor will your furry friend!
