Perfect size for training

As a dog trainer of 29 years, these treats are stinky in the best way and are the perfect bite size for training. However, they are hard and crunchy, so cannot easily

As a dog trainer of 29 years, these treats are stinky in the best way and are the perfect bite size for training. However, they are hard and crunchy, so cannot easily be broken into tiny pieces for high volume and frequency rewards. My dog Linus is a picky eater, so finding a treat he gets excited to work for is a challenge. He comes running when I pull out this bag of treats because he can smell the lamb liver. He will work for one of these treats, but he will rarely eat it. He takes it, spits it out, carries it around, and rolls in it. Despite being picky, he doesn’t typically choose to not eat a treat. In contrast, my two cats enjoy the strong smell of these treats and both will happily snack on them. Sadly, these will be our cat treats, and I will keep searching for the perfect training treat for Linus.

I chose to get the liver treat for dogs since dried liver is often used as "bait" when training dogs for the show ring. My breed of dogs, borzois, loved what I've presented as bait at home while practicing but have been too nervous to eat the bait in the show ring. This product has changed all that. At home, all 4 of them loved the liver treat and wanted to eat the entire bag of it at that very moment. They watched where I stored it and stood in front of that cupboard as if they were pointers and not chasers. Because they're so tall (the boy is taller that the kitchen counter!!!) I changed the storage place to a much higher cupboard! Kids!!! I can't wait to try the other flavors I saw. This will work well in the show ring!!!

My pup, Leia, absolutely loves these treats! From the moment I open the package, she gets so excited, tail wagging and all. The treats have a pleasant, natural aroma (which is a big plus compared to some other treats we've tried), and the packaging is great—fresh, easy to reseal, and convenient. Shipping was incredibly fast, which I always appreciate, and the quality of the treats is top-notch. The pieces are the perfect size for rewarding good behavior or just a little snack. We've gone through quite a few of these so far, and Leia has consistently adored them. The only small thing I’ve noticed is that they seem to cause her a little bit of diarrhea—not severe, but definitely a correlation, hence 4 🌟's as opposed to 5. It’s not enough to stop giving them to her, but I do think it's something to be mindful of, especially for smaller dogs who might have more sensitive stomachs. I started giving her smaller pieces, which alleviated the issue for us. Overall, though, these are fantastic treats, and Leia would give them two paws up if she could! I'll definitely keep these in her treat rotation while keeping an eye on her tummy. Highly recommend for dogs who love a high-quality, tasty reward!

Just big enough to give him a crunchy chew, but sized to be a treat or topper. They are not an over processed kibble. They are little cubes of liver, freeze dried.

Review: Lamb Liver Dog & Cat Treats As soon as we opened the bag, all three of our pets came running! These treats were a big hit with our pup, Lucy. Our cats, Oliver and Josie, found them a bit large, but they were easy to break in half. We love that there’s no strong smell, and the freeze-dried texture makes them easy to handle. Best of all, it’s great to have one treat that works for both dogs and cats. With no bad ingredients, we feel good about giving these to our pets. Oliver, Josie and Lucy recommend!

These treats work great on the go and for training my 8 month old Labrador. She absolutely loves them! I can grab a bunch to take on our walks and in the car without worrying that they’ll go bad or leave a nasty residue in my pockets or treat bag. The crunchy texture seems to be really appealing to her and I know she’s eating something healthier than a treat with dyes and fillers. And, because the portion size is smaller, I can give her more of them for training sessions without having to worry about her gaining too much weight. Shepard Boy treats will definitely remain a staple in my pup’s diet.

My senior calico cat is very picky and I often wind up giving away treats and food I have bought for her. The Shepherd Boy Farms Lamb Liver treats are a very happy exception! She actually follows me into the room where they are kept and stares me down until I give her some. Sooo, I would say a very successful experience!!! She consistently enjoys them. I like the re-sealable bag, it keeps the treats fresh. I also love the fact that they are literally 1 ingredient. I will definitely be getting these again.

No joy in liver today.

My cats come running when they hear bags crinkling even if it’s human food of some sort. They know it’s treat time! However, they did not like these treats at all

My cats come running when they hear bags crinkling even if it’s human food of some sort. They know it’s treat time! However, they did not like these treats at all. They would not eat them. They looked dry. Didn’t smell very good and the color was kind of nauseating looking.
