Our pups love this dog food. As both of them need limited ingredient dog food, finding one that they like and that satisfies their nutritional requirements can be difficult. They really enjoy this food. We are happy with it.
I was hesitant to buy this product because of some of the reviews, but I later learned that the reason for customer feedback was likely due to the change in formula. While it’s true that the food, itself, does not maintain a “squishy” texture after refrigeration, this is because the carcinogen, “carrageenan,” was removed from the ingredients list. Carrageenan is a popular additive in wet dog foods to help texturize the paté. Unfortunately, it’s absence certainly messed with the texture of this particular food, but the trade off is a much healthier ingredients list for the long-term health of our dogs. That said, I now feed this food to my 1-year-old-pug who has a food sensitivity. I’ve long been looking for a wet LID that doesn’t have carrageenan in it, and finally settled on this after reading about their formula change. She loves this stuff, too! As a tip, if your dog prefers softer texture: I usually mix it with some boiling water to help soften it again after refrigeration! The temperature comes down pretty quickly and my dog enjoys a warm meal for dinner every night. Otherwise, serving as-is straight out of the fridge or can, you’ll find the pate has more consistency with cooked ground meat than an actual pate—which some dogs won’t mind, either! 5/5 for this food from us! Please don’t let the negative reviews discourage you from trying it. The formula is much healthier for your pup in the long term.
This wet food is very very dry. I need to add broth to it for my dogs to even think about eating it. They mostly turn their noses up and walk away from it. Most likely I will just donate the rest of the cans to a shelter.
I just started my dog on this new Limited Ingredient Lamb and Brown Rice wet food almost 2 weeks now. I started her off slowly and added less and less of her old wet food until this morning, just the Natural Balance with the Natural Balance kibble, a little unsalted Beef broth and she didn't want to eat it. I'm just so disappointed at this point. I had to add a little of her old wet food again in order for her to eat at least half. In my opinion, this food smells like FISH and the pate's texture isn't easy to mix with the kibble. I just might have to call customer service and donate this food. Her Vet said she needs to be on a Limited Ingredient food because she can't have any chicken. Her old food said Lamb and brown rice but the Vet saw that in the ingredients it still had chicken. She's 13 and has been thru many different foods and I'm just at a loss at this point. She loves 92% lean ground beef, so I might have to do that w/kibble from now on if I can't find another wet food.
I never received a worse case of dog food, almost every can was terribly dented.
My dog has food sensitivities and since we switched him to this food, his stomach’s been great and he loves it!
switched my westie from hills to this, he looks great seems satisfied.
Gla to have my Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Lamb Recipe cans bak in stock. Long time one, long time missed
Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Lamb & Brown Rice Formula Canned Dog Food is hard and dry all around the sides of the can. I can only use a little over half the can for Casey. The rest goes in the garbage. Not going to feed him dry hard food. It used to be nice and soft but no longer. The last 24 cans were like that. Will no longer buy it.
I’m disappointed that purina discontinued their pro plan wet food in lamb and rice. I bought the L.I.D brand as a replacement for the Purina but my dog does not seem to like it as much as the purina . Also it’s annoying that the can has to be opened with a can opener, hard for customers with weak hands like me. It does not have the easy to open pull back tabs.
