How much can a dog move around in the seat of the car with this harness?

Answer by ChewyMay 12, 2025
This harness is designed so that the seatbelt is threaded through the back of the harness. Your pup should be able to lay down, sit up, and shift positions comfortably.

How many pounds was this crash tested for?

Answer by ChewySep 29, 2025
Clickit Sport has been proven in independent testing by the Center for Pet Safety to be one of the safest car harnesses in an auto collision, earning the highest possible Five Star rating.

Can you use this harness with a protective seat cover?

Answer by ChewySep 15, 2025
A protective seat cover should work just fine with the Clickit Sport Plus Safety Dog Harness. It is recommended avoiding any seat cushion or booster that elevates the dog, but a standard seat cover is perfectly safe as long as it does not cover or obstruct the seatbelt buckle.

Can this be used for cats?

Answer by ChewyMay 28, 2024
This harness has not been designed or tested to be used on cats.

Sweet Lawd. Okay. Let's start with the good stuff. It keeps your pet from becoming a canine comet - big plus. I adore the additional seat belt clip ( I don't know what you call it, but it helps the seat belt not retract as much ). That thing is ingenious! Harness itself seems comfy. Seems this harness would be a dream with a smaller dog who has more room to move around. I have a German Shepherd so there are challenges. This isn't exactly intuitive, so watch the video - it really helps. Tips for larger dog breeds- Have your dog sit before trying to put the harness on them. Use that belt clip attachment ( that's what I'm calling it ) to extend the seat belt almost as far as it can go and attach the clip prior to bringing your dog to the car. You'll thank me later. Have your dog lie down in the back seat - it's easier to thread the seat belt through the harness and secure it. Before going anywhere, let your dog chill with the harness on and secured in the car. This way he doesn't freak out while you are driving. ( Lesson learned ). It took my dog a couple of times to get used to it, but now he is fine with it. Good Luck!

Incomplete!

No S bracket to connect to seat belt! Simple quality control should prevent this. Sending back. Will buy direct.

I did alot of reading about different brands of harness, to keep a dog restrained for safety, riding in a car. Sleepy pod was my first choice! They are the only brand that I felt confident in doing crash testing, the harness. This is the 2nd Sleepy Pod harness that we've purchased. The one that we bought for our puppy is still in good condition, even though he's worn it, every time he rides in the car, for 7 years. It seems to be comfortable for a dog to wear and I love knowing that he's safely buckled up. Sleepy pod's are crash tested. I didn't see any other brand claiming that.

We've done about 50k miles in the car with these harnesses, they have definitely worked during a couple hard stops and kept her from slamming into the seat in front of her. They did take some getting used to as they have less freedom of motion then some harnesses, but worth it for the additional safety. She currently wears an XL, 73lb GSD.

Fortunately this safety harness has not been subjected to an accident. My dog likes the fit and it keeps him secure in the backseat. I gave it four stars because adjusting the fit on the seatbelt so the dog can sit or lay down is awkward, at least it is for a large 70+ lb. dog. Chewy definitely had the best price on this product.

Difficult to put on and attach in car

It is not an easy harness to get on dog. You have to be patient. It does not get any easier when trying to get seat belt through the loops. Needs to be simplfie

Great product and customer service, just didn't fit my dogs

Unfortunately we had to return it because it did not fit our dogs properly. We reached out to Sleepypod with photos and they were extremely helpful. They confirmed that indeed the fit was not right. Rather than leave it there, they inquired about the dog breed, and weight for their product development team. They recommended that for a 14 to 15 pound miniature schnauzer, the best product to use is their mobile carrier. Unfortunately our backseat is not wide enough for us to have 3 of them seat belted in (we have 3 dogs).
