What makes this treat 'calming'? I don't understand. Can someone explain? Thanks.

The light-colored portion of this grain-based chew contains a mix of vegetables and chicken. The colored portion contains real chicken as well as chamomile and lavender extracts for natural support of calm behavior. SmartBones chews are fortified with vitamins and minerals for overall health support. I love these calming bones, especially when my dog wants to chill out at night. He usually gets a bone 2-3 hours after eating dinner. After he has his bone, goes outside, and then comes back in to settle for the evening, usually sleeping happily after his belly is happy from Smart Bones. I alternate this bone and the peanut butter flavor Smart Bones.
