Garlic powder is one of the ingredients, but garlic is toxic to dogs. How do they square the two?

Garlic, when used in small amounts, can help support the immune system, liver and cardiovascular system prevents blood clots and reduces cholesterol/fat build up in the blood and heart. Also, it aides in the fight against bacterial, viral and fungal infections and increases the rate of killing off parasites and is great for palatability.
The ingredients list says meat by product, beef. My dog is extremely allergic to chicken and chicken by products, so what exactly is in meat by product?

The by-product used in this formula is beef kidneys.

Smokehouse is unable to give a calorie measurement for these treats for their purpose is to be a chew. If eaten, the gastrointestinal tract will break it down but there will be barely any nutrients absorbed from this product; and therefore very very little calorie content will be measured.
