Sodium bicarbonate 8.4% is a sterile preparation of sodium bicarbonate in Water for Injection. Sodium Bicarbonate is useful in the treatment of metabolic acidosis due to a wide variety of causes.

Possible Side Effects

Possible side effects may include: frequent urge to urinate, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, slow breathing.

Drug & Food Interactions

The following drug interactions have either been reported or are theoretical in humans or animals receiving sodium bicarbonate and may be of significance in veterinary patients: Anticholinergic agents, azole antifungals, ciprofloxacin; enroflaxcin, corticosteroids, digoxin, diuretics, ephedrine, histamine, iron products, oral medications, quinidine, salicylates, sucralfate, tetracyclines.


This is a sterile single dose vial. No preservatives have been added. Discard unused portion after use. Do not use if solution is hazy, cloudy, or contains a precipitate.
