I've recently started adding bone broth to my Yorkies' meals due to the benefits I've read about. I currently order Merrick's Beef Bone Broth, but decided to try the Solid Gold version with added turmeric for its health benefits. I will continue to buy both from Chewy.
My dog is fussy and sometimes doesn’t want to eat her food. Adding this broth makes her food more appetizing so she eats it all.
In reply to a question, it is a twist-off cap. To open, grip the stem at the top of the pouch and turn the white cap very hard to the left. Took me a while to figure out. My older dog can be picky but loves his food with warmed up beef broth on it. It’s an easy way to add turmeric to his diet.
My little Brussels Griffon loved the added broth but it seemed like he started scratching himself ALOT. Then when we stopped using it. He stopped his excessive scratching as well. Maybe a coincidence???
I have an 11 yr old, toothless Papillon. She has multiple grain and poultry allergies. I use this to add moisture to her kibble or fresh feeds. She sometimes isn't interested in eating. When I add this she will readily eat her food. Oddly enough she doesn't like it warmed up. She prefers it from the refrigerator or room temp.
I have a 3yr old 6lb Pomeranian mix who can be a tiny bit picky. He’s been eating the Wee Bit Bison formula from SG for over a year now, and about a month ago he was expressing complete disinterest in his own food. He would keep eating out of our 13yr old’s prescription food (he has cancer & Cushing’s Disease so he’s chronically hungry as well) which in turn made the older dog eat his food, which is formulated for a much smaller, younger, and healthier dog. I decided to order this and some Instinct raw toppers to add to his meal, and boy what a difference! Three weeks into his new diet and he gets so excited for meal times now! He eats every bite the moment I put it on the floor. Since the broth does have to be refrigerated after opening I do pop it into the microwave for about 10 seconds just to get the chill off and warm it up a bit. But I definitely recommend this for picky eaters! Since he’s so small I only need 1tbsp per bowl, and with him being fed twice a day one packet of broth will last me 1 week, which is also helpful for penny pinching.
The broth in itself doesn’t entice my dog to eat, but what I love is that it’s human grade but made with dogs in mind. I cook for my boy, whenever I can, to mix with his kibble. I love knowing I don’t have to worry about sodium, or onion/garlic etc in the ingredients. I think he prefers the turkey and chicken flavors though.
I was disappointed with this item. Not only would Yogi not touch it, the roommates dog, who loves anything Yogi has, refused to touch the bowl of kibble with this broth on it.
My dog likes the beef flavor. I have the turkey but we haven't tried it yet. I bought it to mix in with her food because I changed her probiotic and with that change she stopped eating her food. She started eating it again once I added a little of this on top. I wish the packaging was recyclable.
