The size is perfect. Room for a litter box and nice roomy area for my cat. I inserted a cushion for comfort. The cat was a lot less stressful. Crate is a bit flimsy, so definitely not a pet carrier. My only complaint is that I can not get it to fold down for storage. There are directions for this, but they don't seem to work. I managed to get it to fold most of the way and them tied a string around it to keep it from springing back.
This carrier folds up super easily for storage purposes and was great for traveling with my 2 adult cats! Very convenient. We draped a blanket over top half and put one in the carrier with some toys. Worked perfect for a 5 hour drive.
We moved from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest with 2 cats in this seat crate. We usually would take them in the car in their individual carriers. This car seat crate was a complete game changer. Not once did the cats cry or moan or try to escape. They had plenty of room for each of them to have space and walk-around. If you are planning on taking your cats on a long road trip I couldn't recommend this crate enough!
It just doesn't close like it's supposed to, but you can get it close enough to keep it closed with the straps, and it fits nicely in the carrying case, even if it's not perfect. That being said, this product didn't work out for us. We got worried that trying to load the cats with the car door open might cause them to panic and escape. We live in Manhattan, so decided it was too risky. So, we kept the cats in their individual carriers in the car, and decided we would use this carrier as a safe place for them to stay in the hotel. Our two cats, who usually get along well, went at each other, hissing and growling. We had to abandon the whole project and let them have the run of the hotel room. Now that I think about it, their fighting was probably a plot to force us to let them run around the hotel room. But, not going to blame the product for the cats being brats. Generally, this thing is a little flimsy and awkward, but it might work better for other people in a different situation.
As others mentioned, this isn't meant to carry pets in because it's soft material. But it's very spacious, big enough for two cats, and you can put a bed or blanket for comfort once it's set up in the car. As soon as I sprung it open, the cats went in to investigate :) I'm removing one star because the wire frame broke; it's at the bottom so it still holds it shape and fortunately hasn't poked through the fabric enclosure.
I love this crate. It securely hooks to two seatbelts and both headrests to give me piece of mind. It has large mesh panels allowing my cat to see out and the double door ends allow for easy in and out access. It is so roomy I even put a litter pail inside with a blanket at the other end and my cat rode in style. Great product and from a US based company!
We originally bought this carrier for my two cats, because we were planning on taking a 7 hour car ride for Thanksgiving. This carrier was fantastic, and gave them enough room to stand and walk around. I had enough room to put a small disposable litter box on one side and their favorite soft blanket on the other side. It made for a very comfortable trip for them, where they could stretch their legs, use the bathroom, sleep, sit, stand, without being cramped. Afterward, it folded up really easily and is small/thin enough that I can store it in the hall closet until I need it again. Great product!
I used this carrier on a cross-country trip. It works well until you try to remove it from the car. It could be removed with my cats in it, however the bottom is nylon with no support. It has nylon handles on each end to pick it up, when you do so to remove it from the car, my cats "slid" to middle. There really is no way to use it as a carrier even just going to the vet. My recommendation would be to put it in the car, but have an additional regular-type carrier to load and unload your pets after it is placed in your vehicle. It cannot be used as a carrier.
I suppose it's a good product, but not what I thought I was buying, wayyyy too big for what I thought I was getting. Wish I could return it, but I didn't keep the box.
I bought this crate for a long-distance (~12 hours driving time) move with my two 11-year-old cats. It was a great solution for keeping them in a single enclosure in the car while still giving them their own space as individuals. (Despite the fact that they're littermates who have been together their whole lives, I describe their relationship with each other as "barely tolerant" so space is important!) I liked that the crate secures to the backseat headrests for safety and that it allowed the cats to see me while I drove, which I think helped with their anxiety. While I bought a small portable litter box from Chewy with the intention of putting it in the crate between them, I didn't end up doing this because it would have been too cramped. (My cats are 10 pounds and 16 pounds, for reference.) I did put a small food dish with dry food in the crate and that fit fine. One thing to note if you're considering purchasing the crate: I would not recommend trying to transfer your cats from your home to the car in the crate. It's not designed for that, so plan to set the crate up in the car and then bring the cats to it in their regular carriers. Overall, this purchase worked really well for my needs!
