About SportDOG

Dog Training Gear for Every Season

It’s important that your dog’s gear is built to withstand the elements you face in the field. That’s why nothing from SportDOG gets into your hands without rigid testing. Whether you and your dog are doing daily water training in summer or breaking through winter lake ice for long retrievals, SportDOG gear can handle it.

How Do the SportDOG Models Differ?

Most SportDOG e-collars are waterproof and rechargeable and feature tone, vibe and static stim settings. The big differences between the models are collar distance range, number of dogs one remote can talk to, and remote type. Choose from remotes with features like OLED display or a tactile dial for no-look operation.

About SportDOG Brand

From a humble start in Knoxville, Tennessee, SportDOG Brand has grown to be one of the leading brands in the hunting dog training industry. Since 2003, they have designed and tested their products in the field to ensure performance in the face of challenges like heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, wind and mud. They know those conditions are just another day on the hunt, so they make sure SportDOG gear works just as hard as your dog does.

Looking for a water toy for my GSD, he can be a bit of a chewer. Will this work for him?

Answer by ChewyMar 13, 2018
This toy does float and is made perfect for hunting prep, not too hard, not too soft. However, it may not work for determined chewers.

Does this toy squeak or have a squeaker?

Answer by ChewyAug 05, 2023
This item does not feature a squeaker.

how do you add air? do you open the valve and blow in like a balloon?

Answer by ChewyAug 02, 2019
If you have reduced the air using the valve at the top, the dummy can be re-inflated by opening this valve to allow air to fill the dummy again. If the dummy has been bent/pressed very flat, it may help to use pressure with your hands to help return it to its prior shape so this space can fill with air.

I have a 15 month old Jack Russell that weighs about 11 pounds but with her prey drive and tenacity you would think she’s bigger. Would this size be okay and if not, do you have a smaller one?

Answer by ChewyMay 19, 2020
The SportDOG Regular Plastic Dog Training Dummy measures 2 inches wide x 12 inches long and should be suitable for your dog. Currently the Training Dummy only comes in one size, regular.

Not very strong

My 12 week old puppy had the end chew off in about 5 minutes. Had to throw away so she wouldn't eat the plastic pieces. Not very durable.

Not durable at all.

It floats well but The rope hole area is very weak and got chewed off easily. My dog is a lab mix 8 yrs old , loves to swim and also chews. I would not recommend

It floats well but The rope hole area is very weak and got chewed off easily. My dog is a lab mix 8 yrs old , loves to swim and also chews. I would not recommend this at all for any dog that likes to chew, young or old. Was dissapointed that that particular part was not as well made as the body of the dummy.

Labberdoddle loves it

I just wish it had a rope attached as the hole is small and I do not have a small rope to use.

Not durable enough for our Lab.

Plastic is much too soft for our lab. The toy lasted exactly one throw into the lake and King ate the end off it. The next time I threw it, it sank, never to be

Light weight and lacking durability.

The training dummies I use are made with quality, and drability foam filled with ropes attached for the same price.

Training dummy

It is slightly smaller and lighter than the ones I've had in the past. The last ones I bought from a dog magazine. And that's been years ago. I had several and lost

Poor quality

Air valve would not stay in place. The rope hole plastic split and broke 10 minutes after we through the trainer.

Fetch

My dog Bo loves this dummy. I throw it and he retrieves it. During the hot summer months I will throw it into a nearby lake so Bo can cool off while fetching this

Our Labrador loves this fetch toy. It is easy for him to carry and find in the tall grass. Our dog is an aggressive chewer and has not found a fetch toy he cannot destroy given the chance so we would never leave him alone with it. But with that in mind he has had a ton of fun with it.
