I think we can agree that both you and your parents don't want you to have an upset stomach (i.e. the runs) when switching over to this really tasty new food. Take it slow, have your mom or dad mix increasing amounts of the SquarePet awesomeness while gradually decreasing the amount of the old stuff for about a week.

Our ACD will be 16 this month. She has had kidney & liver issues for several years now. She wasn't responding well to the vet recommended formula they provided. I found this alternative on Chewy about 2 yrs ago. I switched it with a renal dry also through Chewy. She gets the renal wet twice daily with her dry food. Pup will be having a toe removed 11/20/23 that has a tumor in it. We're hopeful our beautiful girl will be better afterwards & are grateful to this food manufacturer for how well she's done with their product. Thank you Chewy for alternatives
My Maltese mix needed a low phosphorus, low fat, lower protein diet, due to her latest bloodwork results. She’s borderline, so I didn’t want to get a vet diet yet. I’m hoping this food will help. She’s not wild about it, but she’ll eat it with water and a little wet food mixed in.
I can't say enough good things about this wonderful food. I always made sure my 10 yr old dog was fed a quality food with high quality protein sources and no fillers. But I thought my only choices for a kidney diet were the big manufacturers "prescription" food, but when I read the ingredients I was horrified. Why would they put such low quality ingredients in a food for dogs who are already ill. But I had to get him onto a kidney diet as a side effect of his long term Addisons disease meds. So I chose the big manufacturer food with the "lowest" number of poor ingredients. But of course it still made him sick, even with a long slow transition time. He had vomiting and diarrhea and eventually he wouldn't touch it. I was about ready to give up, but started doing some research and thankfully found this wonderful food. He's acting happy and playing now and can hardly wait for his food at meal time. And the topper is I can feel good about feeding it to him.
My Yorkie has to have special food, for heart and kidney. He got sick of Hill's and I was not happy with the ingredients. This was the only other type of food that I found for his issues. He will not eat it without a topper of some sort. Can't blame him, it smells bad to me! Would only recommend it if someone needed to try a special diet.
When our 15-year-old, 22lb mixed senior lady was diagnosed with early kidney failure I knew I didn't want to feed her Hills Pet, Blue Buffalo, etc. My husband and I were SO HAPPY when we found this alternative! The kibble is the perfect size for Reddit to chew, I add a little bit of fish oil, and warm water and Reddit is a happy pup! We started with the 4.4 lb bag just to make sure Reddit was going to like it. We are now buying her the 22lb!
My 14 yo dog was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. He doesn't like other renal prescription foods I've tried, so keeping him eating healthy has been a struggle. This is the first low-phosphorus food I've found, and doesn't require a vet prescription. My dog doesn't devour it, but he will munch on it when there's no wet food is available. He's gotten very picky since the kidney diagnosis, so this is a win for us. I give it 5 stars.
Our dog is on a low phos diet due to kidney issues. These are little square bites that he can eat. - he is a yorkie
My 3.5 pound semi toothless dog was diagnosed with kidney disease and prescribed kidney food. I tried many of the prescription brands - Hill (both canned and kibble), Royal Canin, and blue Buffalo - she would not touch any of them! While this isn’t prescription, the protein and phosphorus levels are very low and the best part is that she will eat these! The kibbles are small and very very THIN. Hopefully her kidney values improve - she’s not due for a few more months.
My dog was recently diagnosed with Cystine Bladder stones. My vet recommended Royal because it was low protein, phosphorus and sodium. Come to find out Royal is adding to my dogs problem because sodium is their 8th ingredient!!! This food has sodium listed as their almost 20th ingredient. Also they list their sodium on the analysis while royal doesnt. Couldn’t say enough good things about this food!
Picking a kibble that’s low phosphorus and tastes good was made easy with SquarePet VFS low phosphorus kibble. Windy is picky and she loves it.. she eats it dry but prefers when we soak it in warm water.
