Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

This was our first order from chewy.com and I am NEVER schlepping another bag of dog food around the store again! TOTW had the greatest volume of food for a price that I wanted to pay, so this is where we started. My 4 and a half month old Aussie is just not a fan of the flavor/texture. It seems difficult for him to chew. For both of those reasons I alternate between adding water or vegetable or beef or chicken broth. The added liquid helps. We will not purchase again only because the pup looks at me like "Seriously, mom. I can't believe you're making me eat this again," if I don't add the liquid. It is really pathetic....like me on a diet. When we first got our boxer I was feeding him Taste of the Wild. He LOVED it! I switched to Iams for one week because I couldn't afford Taste of the Wild and when I switched it back to Taste of the Wild he wouldn't eat it. I really have no clue what's going on but people say the cheap Foods are just like eating McDonald's and everybody loves junk food, right? Well, I try my best to eat healthy foods and sometimes I just don't like it. I look at my dog like that. Sorry buddy but Taste of the Wild is "supposably" great for you and I want you to be healthy ;) Everybody needs to do their research before purchasing foods for their dog! • Dog loves it!!

Been feeding my yellow lab pup "Purina Pro Plan" since I got him 8 months ago. He liked the food very much, up until about 5 months old. He then started getting finicky. Changed formulas in the Pro Plan family, but within a week or two.......hardly touched his food unless REALLY hungry. Decided to switch to Taste of the Wild (High Prairie Puppy), and he's ravenous about eating it!! Been two months now, and I can hardly get his food put down and it's gone. Healthy stool a major plus as well. Good product thus far..........I recommend!!

  • Tiny Kibble

    By on

If you have a large breed puppy this may not be the food for your dog. My puppy is 9 months old and a healthy 65 pounds. This kibble is tiny and it tends to fall out of my pups mouth. I have also seen him get whole kibble bits stuck between his teeth, something he isn't very fond of. Initially my dog seemed to love this food. After a week not so much. I think he mostly hates the kibble size but maybe its the taste too. I gave it two stars instead of one because it has quality ingredients.

  • No noses turned up with this food!

Both my babies love this ever since I switched from another very popular brand. They got bored with it and wouldn't eat it no matter what I put in it to doctor it. I finally just broke down and decided to upgrade their food and I'm really glad I did. Both have soft, shiny coats, bright eyes and healthy bones/teeth. Both have built up strong muscle tissue. They are NOT fat at all. My sister switched her puppy over to it when I was visiting and he liked my food better than hers :)

  • Wonderful! But, my puppy doesn't like it...

    By on

Let me start with ALL the positives, the quality for the price- fantastic, the customer service @ Chewy- wonderful, the delivery right to my door - SO nice. I'm going to keep trying with my 2 month old golden retriever pup, but thus far, he just doesn't like it. I think of it as transitioning from Mc. Donalds to a clean eating diet, of course he will rather eat the Mc. Donalds (his breeder puppy chow), but I bought the big bag, so I'll check back in in a few weeks.

  • Good dog food on a budget

    By on

My Akita has a very sensitive stomach so we have gone through a lot of "premium" dog foods. This is the only one that agrees with her and she can keep down. She also had smaller stools which means she is getting a LOT of nutrition from the food and less coming out the other end. That is what a good food should do for a dog. We also supplement with raw ground whole chicken from our butcher. She has a super shiny coat. I definitely recommend this dog food.

  • Regular potty time!

    By on

Our puppy is 10 weeks old, we got him at 8 wks old. We've been giving him this dog food since he came home. His potty breaks are regular and his "business" is the perfect consistency. This food is definitely nutritious because he has had no stomach issues. At first he wasn't as excited about eating it but a week later he was eating each meal very fast and can't wait for his next meal. We heard a lot of good things about this brand so we will see how it continues, but so far so great. Chewy delivery is also incredibly fast! They say 1-2 days but both times I've ordered from this website my shipment arrived the next day.

  • Had high hopes but somethings different with this food now

    By on

My seven-year-old bull terrier loved this food when he was a puppy. Now I have a 6 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback so I thought I'd get the same type. He refuses to eat it. I will put the food down and he will sit there and just look at me because he wants food. I mixed some of his previous puppy food in with this one and he will pick out his old food and leave this behind. He is basically starving himself and will only eat if he absolutely can't take it any longer. I'm not sure what has changed with this food but there is a huge difference from what it used to be. I put a little bit in front of my bull terrier and he wouldn't eat it either, and he eats absolutely everything.

  • Picky puppy LOVES this food!

    By on

My puppy originally was eating Hills Science Diet Large Breed Puppy Healthy Development, but her poops were huge, soft, smelled bad, and frequent. I tried Fromm Large Breed Puppy, but she refused to eat it. This was the next food I tried. When I brought the Chewy box in through the front door, she immediately started sniffing it excitedly and following me around the house before I could even put it down. While trying Fromm, even when just a tiny bit was mixed with her old food, she wasn't eating nearly at all, and I was starting to get worried that she was sick. Now she LOVES eating as long as this is the food her bowl, and I'm no longer a worried puppy mom!
