Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a cat's GI tract. The proprietary Viables probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your cat gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your kitty will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

I have a little stray cat I got when she was a kitten. She’s never been one of gaining weight. Everyone was telling me it was just because she was born from generations of strays. As soon as I switched her to this food she is finally feeling is filling out and getting to a healthy weight! I was always so worried about her being skinny never knowing exactly why to do to help her. I was feeding her Purina one her whole life because that is said to be a really good food for cats. I switched her big brother (a black lab GSD mix) to this food and then decided to switch her too since it’s good quality and I am so happy with the result on my little cat! I could not be happier

My cat took nicely to this food and the stray I'm fostering likes it too. Since I was moving from an all wet diet to a completely dry one I went much slower with this transition than I would have had I just been switching from one brand of wet food to another brand of wet food. Anyhow, even though it's said any wet food even the rankest is still better than any dry food, my cats are actually healthier on this grain-free dry food than they were on their wet grain-free food only diet. Their coats are shinier, instead of profuse shedding and rail thinness they now shed very little and have plumped up a bit which they both needed to do – especially the stray one. This review is based solely on the Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain flavor/formula of dry cat food, as I haven't tried any of their other products yet. … more

  • My cats loves it!

    By on

I originally bought Taste of the Wild based on the reviews from German Shepherd Dog websites that I frequent online. Highly recommended because of its high % of proteins and fats, plus grain-free. My dog loved it so much that I decided to try the brand on my 3 cats. It was a HUGE SUCCESS!

  • So far so good....

I have 2 indoor cats and I worry about them overeating as they age (they are 5 now). If they don't like their dry food they leave it there and it eventually gets thrown out, so I have been trying to find something that they like that is also healthy and this seems to work.

  • Feral cat colony

I transitioned our feral cats to this food when their previous food was no longer available. The 15 lb bag has a comparatively good price, the food is grain free and high protein with two different protein sources. The kibble is an appropriate size. I add food grade diatomaceous earth to the dry kibble to combat intestinal parasites. After stirring in hot water, I add brewer's yeast for flavor, coat condition, and to reduce fleas. The cats enjoy their food and they look terrific.

  • Best on the Market

    By on

We look earnestly for a great tasting food for our dogs that is also nutritional and grain free. When we found Taste of the Wild we bought the smaller bag to try it on our two canines, Phoenix and Rex. They cleaned the bowl and wanted more, so did we, so now we buy the biggest bag and when I read the ingredients before we purchased the Rocky Mtn. flavor I confess I was somewhat tempted to try it my self!

  • Smell of the Wild

This was one of the items I decided to settle for after my 1st two selections became no longer available at Chewy. Independent reviewers gave this food high marks, on this scale solid 4's across the board, citing largely its nutritional value. The 1st thing I noticed when opening the bag is its very pungent. All dry cat foods have an odor but this stuff smells like dead meat. Which isn't really a surprise given that's the main selling point of their food, but to figure something versus experience it is a huge difference. So I provided him a bowl and after smelling it he did the litterbox scraping action at it and walked away. I have since mixed it together with a 3 lb bag of "Nutro Max Indoor This was one of the items I decided to settle for after my 1st two selections became no longer available at Chewy. I have since mixed it together with a 3 lb bag of "Nutro Max Indoor Adult Roasted Chicken Flavor Dry Cat Food" and 5 lbs of Meow Mix (this happened over the course of a few days). He now eats it but I notice when he leaves food behind its the Taste of the Wild bits. On the plus side he does seem to want to eat less and doesn't poop as much (the new and improved odor there is something I won't go into detail about) but he also seems to spend more time sleeping now than he did prior. These are my own experiences , yours may be dramatically different. As it stands right now I will not be repurchasing this food. … more

  • Great Cat Food

    By on

My cat had been eating Science Diet since I got her as a kitten. I was wanting to make a switch to something healthier and was grabbed by some of the reviews saying their litter box issues were better since putting their cat on Taste of the Wild. It's true! My cats litter box doesn't smell nearly as bad, and she loves Taste of the Wild. I'm super glad I made the switch.

  • The Better Value

Used to buy Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon until I found this. Cat usually prefers fish food but Trout variety received fewer positive reviews than this Roasted Venison version so contacted manufacturer for free samples of both before deciding on the latter. Cat loves it and seems to thrive. 15-lb bag enables me to also feed this to the outdoor feral cat(s) I look after in the winter months.
