Can the dog see through it?

Answer by ChewyJul 10, 2021
The calming cap reduces the visual stimulus that can make a dog agitated by filtering his/her vision. Your dog will still be able to see, and can easily navigate their surroundings, however the sheer fabric reduces the amount of light / visual stimulation your dog receives, helping them to remain calmer in stressful situations.

This item has been a game changer for our leash reactive dog. Careful while your pup is adjusting, ours jumped in to a shrub thinking it was a ledge. He ended up scratching his eye since he didn’t have the reflex to close his eyes thinking it was a ledge. Now that he is used to it we haven’t had any issues.

Works well with a muzzle

I cant say that its calming, but it helps that they cannot see the needle coming towards them for thier yearly shots and haertworm tests.

Reasonably good coverage

It seemed to help and will use it again. We have used it twice so far for two very traumatic vet visits..

Actually works

Little bit of a learning curve but we can now take our Coonhound in the car. Before the calming cap, passing cars would drive her crazy.

Very Fast Service

I'm getting my dog used to it, to calm her in the car. A trainer put one one 2 weeks ago and it did a good job of calming her

It helps to regulate him from being overly protective while in the car.

It fits fairly well. With verbal encouragement, he stops trying to swipe it off

Had to spend some time acclimating our dog to the mask. We used treats that we held inside until she got used to putting her snout in it. She tolerates it fairly well even after so little time. She can see but doesn't react as much to her triggers with it on. Only criticism is we couldn't figure out how to attach the bottom. Top is obvious with the velcro strap. So we added a carabiner clip. Material and construction are both excellent.
