I tried to give this to my indoor cats, but they all smelled it and then walked away. I don’t know if it’s because of the duck, which they’ve never had, but they had zero interest. I then tried to give it to the 15 ferals I feed outside, and most of them also walked away after smelling it. A couple of the younger group did like it, so thankfully it won’t go to waste. It is a bit pricey for the amount you get, and it’s not easy to get it all out of the pouch, but I honestly think it would be good for younger kittens transitioning to solid foods. I think my indoor cats and outdoor ferals would have liked it more if it had been a different flavor.

All seven of my cats loved this mousse so it must taste great. It does have a very smooth, mousse-like consistency, a lot like the popular treats that come in tubes, so in that sense it's appropriate for kittens' little mouths and would work as intended to help them transition from mom to solid food. Overall, though, I wouldn't use it as anything other than an occasional treat in small amounts and here's why: The protein comes from chicken, chicken broth, duck, duck liver, and dried egg, in that order. But the reason I rated the product with two stars is because the third ingredient listed is sunflower oil. It might be in there to help produce the mousse consistency or to add calories, but it's not something I would give to a growing kitten even as a treat, because while it supplies some nutrients they aren't from a source that's naturally found in a carnivore's diet. Farther down the ingredient list is tuna oil. Tuna's not something that wild cats would ever encounter, either, but fish oil is a better source for the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids cats need. Because of the seed oil I would't feed this as primary calorie source or even as a supplement. Cats need low-carbohydrate, high protein diets with specific vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, and in my opinion seed oils don't contain species-appropriate nutrition. I'm not a fan of food that comes in pouches because it's hard to get everything out without cutting the pouch open on three sides and using a spatula, but since young kittens need to be fed 4-6 times per day the pouch format would make it easier to serve and to store the leftovers. Each pouch contains 77 kcals. Tiki Cat recommends 1.5 pouches per pound of body weight, so a 3-pound kitten would get 4.5 pouches per day for 346 calories. (For comparison, about 200 calories is a maintenance diet for a moderately active adult cat.) That's a lot of pouches per cat per day.

This product is marketed for kittens, but I have been using it to entice my senior cat to eat his food and It is helping him eat his prescription food. While he likes this pouch food, he will eat his dinner if I top it with any tube style treat. Overall, there are more budget-friendly options for us and will only use if all other options fail.

The kitten mousse package is a good portion size 2.4 oz, opposed to the typical snack size of 0.5 oz. It is easier to pour out than the small portion package but can get a little messy sometimes. I feed it to our recently adopted kitten that was the smallest in the litter and our 15+ year old senior cat for some extra calories and nutrients. They both enjoy it.

I have a very senior kitty who has no teeth left, and needs some extra nourishment every day, so our vet had recommended that she be given kitten food at least once a day. She is also very finicky, but loves this food which I alternate with other Tiki senior foods. The mousse texture really appeals to her and this blend with chicken and duck gets her to lick her bowl clean!

The mousse was a hit with our kitten and our two adult cats (who sneaked in for a taste). The texture is very creamy and soft—perfect for little baby teeth. We have been feeding it separate from dry food, though I’m sure it would make for an excellent topper or mixer.
