Questions & Answers

5 Customer Questions

What exactly does ‘naturally’ shed mean? That the deer was not killed for the antler but rather found in the wild?

Answer by ChewyDec 04, 2019
Antlers are shed each year naturally and no animals are harmed with the harvest of this popular chew.

Is this treat digestible?

Answer by ChewyOct 31, 2019
When a dog chews on an antler, the antler will slowly decrease in size as the dog safely ingests small pieces of the antler. The small pieces are completely safe and digestible, and offer important nutrients dogs need.

How heavy is this chew treat?

Answer by ChewyOct 15, 2019
Large Elk Antler Dog Treats are approximately 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter and about 7 to 9 inches long. The weight of the antler will vary due to this antler being 100% natural.

is this from the USA?

Answer by ChewyDec 19, 2019
These antlers are shed, sourced, and processed in the USA.

Could have been great

Excellent size for my dog (even after I had to saw off about 1/2" of the base) but for what I paid for it there should not have still been fur and dirt and who knows

Excellent size for my dog (even after I had to saw off about 1/2" of the base) but for what I paid for it there should not have still been fur and dirt and who knows what else on the bottom in the grooves, which was already chipping at the edges as it hadn't been properly cleaned or anything and I don't want my dog getting some sort of disease or infection over an antler. Also, it wasn't naturally shed, which isn't something I'm too concerned about personally considering his food has venison in it and the antlers should go to use, regardless of where they come from. But if this is important to you, it's a marketing ploy where "naturally shed" in a case like this likely means something you don't want to know using terminology loopholes - like how so many large organic farms that claim not to use harmful chemical pesticides instead use harmful heavy metal pesticides instead but often don't even call them pesticides, or will call them "organic", and it still won't stop you from contracting a pathogen like E. Coli from all the handling and processing. Hence the issue with the antler. For some reason also my dog got down to about the last 4"-5" and even with marrow still inside as he started at the top and worked down, he can fit the whole thing in his mouth sideways now - mostly anyway, as it's nice and thick - but he isn't interested in the base of it for some reason, even after I cleaned it off and took off the fur and chips and a bit extra and there was still thick base left: something about it turns him off. I might try again in the future but for the price it would be a while.

My Golden didn’t care about this at all which was surprising because he loves split antlers. I’m pretty disappointed. I thought when he was a little older he might
