This muzzle is a breakaway as the crown piece is Velcro. Replacement parts can be purchased through the manufacturer.

This is a great muzzle and with the large breathing holes is much more comfortable for my horse in the humid, hot mid Atlantic region. The flaw is the edge of the Velcro strap is very stiff and within 24 hours had rubbed all his fur off where the strap end touched his face. I covered it with Moleskin to protect his and that works. If thew strap were modified to have a rounded edge that should eliminate the problem/

This definitely cuts back on grazing better than even some of the more expensive muzzles. Be aware though that it has a very strong rubber type smell and has to be washed and left to sit for a week or so to clear. I can also hear my horses teeth scraping on the rubber when she tries to graze so am careful to limit the time used and check teeth regularly. Not ideal but way better than laminitis.

I bought this for my 42" pony with founder. At 42" she is hard to fit. I ordered pony size. It's a bit big. Fits better over her halter. I should have ordered mini

I bought this for my 42" pony with founder. At 42" she is hard to fit. I ordered pony size. It's a bit big. Fits better over her halter. I should have ordered mini size. Chewy would have exchanged it. But l was in a time crunch. I like that it had several ways to adjust size. She only wire it once. It worked with weeds, but it frustrated her trying to eat hay. I was happy that she could drink water with it. Photo shows her with muzzle and a fly mask on.

Love the huge holes from the nostrils!

Smoke has no issues with me putting this on him every day prior to turnout. The rubber is soft so does not hold up terribly well to grazing thru the slow feeder

Smoke has no issues with me putting this on him every day prior to turnout. The rubber is soft so does not hold up terribly well to grazing thru the slow feeder net. The price is good enough that purchasing one every 6 weeks or so is not an issue. The only modification I have made is to put mole skin around the back area as it did cause some rubbing issues. No big deal. Love this tool to help keep his weight under control and laminitis at bay.
