The time of results may vary based on the severity of your dogs anxiety. You should administer at least 30 minutes proper to the stress for effective results. The tabs and soft chews are similar in ingredients. This product is available in two treat types based on your dog's preference.

Too soon to say, as I may have bought the wrong thing for my purpose

Mitzi is a 5 lb, 5-year-old rescued Chihuahua, who came to me as a 3 1/2-year-old breeder dog. Never socialized to humans, never loved, petted, doesn't understand play. Frightened of being caught, carried, doors that close on a spring, etc. etc. But she's feisty and very self-protective. I describe her as "street-smart." Hard to train, but very good at being self-protective. She's constantly looking around for who and what might hurt her. I'm looking for something that will just take the edge off and not keep her so tense and ready for the worst. Humans take Prozac or meds like that to calm them. I don't want to drug her and make her sleepy. I want her not to be so edgy and on constant alert for harm. She has recently started to shiver a lot even when I'm petting her. The vet has suggested an OTC product for calming. TranQuil sounded good and the ingredients are harmless. The problem is I need something I can give her every morning that will take her through the day. TranQuil is said to last 4 hours and takes 20 minutes to kick in. Not ideal for Mitzi's needs. The tablets are quite large for a tiny dog, so I pound them with a meat tenderizer and throw the crumbs in her bowl. She licks the bowl clean.
