What are the full dimensions, and is the aluminum fully protected by the cloth covering? I'm using it more to protect cargo area from items I carry than from a pet. Thanks.

Trixie Premium Cargo Dog Car Seat Cover overall dimensions are 63 x 47 x 0.5 inches. The aluminum is covered by the material completely. This cover can be laid flat to fit the size of your specific space in your vehicle.

Really wanted it to work.

I took a chance on purchasing this item without finding a single review online. In theory, it sounded great: a cover that was raised enough to protect the sides

I took a chance on purchasing this item without finding a single review online. In theory, it sounded great: a cover that was raised enough to protect the sides of the vehicle supported by aluminum beams. The only instructions were on the back of the box and they were not clear. If you look closely at the picture, it does not show straps that go around the head rests. There are also deep slits with velcro that are supposed to attach to the back of the seat (I think). When you do that, it shortens the carrier considerably, so much so, that it shortens what little room a dog would have to sit (it isn't big enough for a 40plus pound dog to lay). If you do not use the straps, that part slides down. I am not sure how the aluminum beams would stay up unless you have a tiny cargo area (did not work in an Escape or CRV). You can't give up and lay it flat either because the beams are woven in the material and would be uncomfortable for a dog. Very disappointed.
